Indiana Jones IV

i'm so confused: did HF refuse SW tv series or movie?

tv series: understandable.
movie: too old for SW yet not for Indy 4?

the Indy iv sounds good though. gonna go watch it.

Well Lucas DIDN"T write the script, as Executive Producer, he just had to approve it. So as far as dialogue goes it probably won't be particualry bad. Plus, Lucas by his own admission gives his director (Spielberg) alot of freedom to do what they like, casting, re-writes, specific scenes, so if you like Spielberg's recent movies you'll probably like Indy4.

As far Ford's age goes, its been known for a while that the story will NOT take place in the early 1930s but instead sometime in the 1950s to coincide with Ford's actually age. I don't know if this is the actual case but i think its a safe bet that it will be.

people shouldn't be too worried about george lucas making a huge balls-up of the film. watch any interview with harrison, george, and spielberg...george is very much the punk of the group. i think ford and spielberg have him fairly under control.

oh im not worried, spielberg can make dog shit seem mildly entertaining. I just hope the movie is more raiders indy and less of a transformation into connery's character from last crusade, because ford is nearly the age that connery was in ast crusade eh

Ok, then.

Moving past all the Lucas hate, here's some Indy IV news:

Shia Le Beouf has been cast.

i cant beleive its finally happening
guess this thread is going to be a good one over the next year

To you Frank Darabont lovers

I keep reading that a lot of you are mourning the loss of Frank Darabont's script. Only problem is...

YOU HAVEN'T READ IT.

Granted he is a great writer but that doesn't guarantee that he wrote a capable enough script. None of his features are in the Indy vein. To write Shawshank doesn't necesarily mean you can write an Indiana Jones film. And he was just one of many writers for the Young Indy TV series.

Spielberg claimed the script was great. Lucas claimed it didn't have enough action. Now Lucas has a reputation for not having the best sense of story. But if he says it was lacking action then its probably because it was lacking action. Dont you want action in your IJ4 film? Of course you want character in your film (which FD could have knocked out of the park) but he's not necesarily a proven action writer. Besides David Koepp and (Jeff Nathanson?) aren't so bad either. Both have more action in their resumes and both are all around great character writers.

This posting is in response to people here and especially those at aint it cool. I just refuse to post there. Anyone understand that its silly to bemoan the loss of a script you never read?

as long as its realistic action and not totaly cgi i say bring it on
NO CGI HEAD SWOPPING!

Harrison Ford is getting too old for his role I don't think they should mak e another one since the temple of doom I thought was pretty bad!jm

But the Last Crusade weren't bad!

I've just tread that some kid called Shia Lebauf or something has got the part of the annoying sidekick. Great. 😕

Yea he was annoying that is one reason I did not like that movie.I never was a big fan of it anyway!See yea.jm

CG Indy!

I'm not sure how I feel about Indy having a son, but they could have cast much worse people than Shia ✅

It's more likely that he'll be Marcus Brody's grandson Adrian, a bit of a bumbler.

And Shia's okay, I guess.

He was good in that golf movie, Greatest Game Ever Played.

I would love to actually that script. Darabont wrote it quite a long time ago. So it has to be out there somewhere; anyone have any idea where i could read it.

Hopefully it's good but i have my doubt's.

Unfortunately the Drabont draft is absolutely under lock and key. One can get their greedy hands on almost any script in Hollywood whether it be Batman Begins, Dark Knight, or Superman Returns. But Lucas is particularly awesome at keeping his projects under wraps. I have a friend who works at Lucasfilm and she says NO ONE has access to those script pages. And though it may not seem like a big deal, the fact that Lucas works out of San Francisco as opposed to Hollywood greatly reduces the chances of the script being circulated. Maybe in the future. But the script isnt Darabont's to send out. Though it was rejected, its Lucas's property. Amblin (Spielbergs co) might have some drafts locked away. Who knows? Maybe Lucas has it stipulated that no hardcopies are to be printed at any office anywhere. So if you want Darabont's draft you're probably going to have to break into his house. Or Spielbergs. How easy does that sound?

Well, the South Park kids did it, so it can't be that hard, right?
