Is the USA an empire? If it is, why? 😮‍💨

Hmmm, in the traditional sense of Empire, such as controlling numerous territories from a central nation, I would say no.... although it, through its economics and globalist tendencies, certainly could be seen as a cultural empire...

... So yes, it could be considered an empire.

The goverment has alot of power but no the usa is not an empire it is a place where people can speak there mind ahem!and vote for there leaders and have freedom of speech.JM

right now the usa is the closest thing to an empire, but its nothing like rome or britain were.

I think it is, but the nature of Empires have changed. These days one doesn't need to go out and occupy countries to effectively control them, Cultural Imperialism has changed the world, and continues to do so, and in terms of nations, the US has the greatest Cultural Imperium at the moment.

If capitalism is what is making USA imperialistic, then by your logic most Europe is Imperialistsi - and thats wrong.

Invading other countries without regard to what international law says and policing the world is whats making USA imperialistic.

I think the USA looks more like the leader of some kind of hegemony over the world than an empire.
