Well, I think the USA, as admirable as it is, is an empire. Think about it, since when does this nation have the power to decide which countries are just and which ones are not. The USA is a much more subtle empire, much more "civilized", yet it maintains its structure as a nation that controls its neighbors by force, and decides what they ought to follow.

Actually to say one out of three is denying all other definitions possible and ignoring the other factors and connotations that define truly what it is. You just want to call it an imperial state jsut because it has a negative tone which you like. I say if you want to call anything anything you must qualify something against all tests of evidence and fact. You know what an imperialist state is, your just bashing the US because thats your pass time.

No, I'm not, believe it or not I don't do it all that much. And no, it doesn't have to exactly fit all three of the definitions. It fits at least two of them, three loosely. It don't know where you're getting this--there is more than one definition for the word.

Rome was not an empire until a General took power. They did the same thing as a Republic, it did not have an Imperial Legion until the Ceasars formed the Pretorian Guard and held basically the Senate at ransom. Rome before the Ceasars did the same exact thing as the United states does today. if we were an Empire there would be a dictatorial ruler who could execute anyone they wish at any moment.

Not necesarily, remember that an empire is a nation that seeks to rule over another one....GB was not a dictatorship, yet it was an empire. It is not about the internal policies of each nation, but about its relations with their surroindings 😮‍💨
