i dont think having fan based awards now matters, next year when the radio pumps the shit out of the next "big thing" all these "fans" they have now will jump shit quicker than you can say "washed up"

If you don't like a band stop listening to them and stop talking about them. I don't like seafood but you don't see me going to a seafood resteraunt and telling everyone that there eating shit. to each their own.
This band is alright and at least its alot better than most of the shit being played on the radio.

I quite like Franz Ferdinand, but I try and only listen to a song of theirs every once in a blue moon.

Take Me Out is still a fantastic song. I hadn't heard it in a while, and the video (which is brilliant btw) came on MTV2 and I thought "Not listening to this song was great!".

Catchy, immediate songs like Franz Ferdinand's are along the same wavelength as some other bands like Green Day. Their songs are immediate, pop-like and catchy. They also, as a side effect, become "old" very quickly if you listen to them too much. They key to enjoying these bands is playing them sparingly.

Thats why I still enjoy Green Day and Franz Ferdinand.

Ive actually heard a few of there new songs and they were really good. You shouldnt spout a whole load of shit before you get the facts right first.

kinda like their first album really....a few ok songs and a load of tripe...i stand by what i said 🙄

i have heard the album, and i dont like it...live with it ffs, theyre a fad band, theyll never live past a year or possibly 2 if theyre lucky....they just dont have the potential for variation, their songs get boring after a few listens like some1 else mentioned on here.

their songs all sound similar, have no variation in bassline and very little in the drum patterns. even the guitar throughout the album seems to stick around a base theme and style.... they get boring soo quickly its unbeleiveable. the lyrics are hardly decent either
they jumped onto the Indie explosion with easily accessible 'dancing music' so it caught on in clubs and on mtv etc...then when ppl start to get bored, which they inevitably will because the songs are soo similar, theyll fade away!

Well seeing as its been a year and loads of peopel pretty much worship them i think theyll last more than a year. And i didnt mean the self titled album by Franz, i mean the new one, with all the new songs on.

it was a guesstimation judging by the previous album, and my judge on the potential of the band.... ie none

actually, they've faded away quite badly recently thankfully...so hope it continues this way

They havent faded, they are working on the new album, thats what happens when bands record new songs! Besides in Q 'take me out' has been announced the song of the year. Their album was at number three, for best album of the year, and more bans chose Franz ferdinand as the best artists of the year.

tbh, any magazine that doesnt list The Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster as band of the year doesnt deserve mentioning 😛

not particularly, i just hate the way theyve been sensationalised as best indie act of the year when tbh theres hundreds that deserve a bigger mention... i get equally attacking when ppl mention the Libertines because they get listed in NME as coolest ppl of the year.... well excuse me but i fail to see how being a complete smack-head heroin addict who steals off his friends is cool.

Neither the Libertines or Franz Ferdinand deserve a spot anywhere near the top of this years best Indie releases....The Libertines make good music, ill agree with that, not the best but good 👆 im more annoyed that theyre suddenly considered the coolest thing since slice bread when the fact is theyre a bunch of junkies.

Ok are you just trying to piss me off! The Libertines is my fave band ever! Only Pete is a smack head. And like you said they make good music, dont focus on their ****ing personal life. Its supposed to be about the ****ing music you stupid ****ing idiot!
