there should be no 'despite' in that situation, no1 who's wanked out their nut on heroin is cool, ever...plain and simple. not only because its retarded but because he's in a hugely successful band which not only in itself is a bad influence, but for NME to suddenly list him as the coolest guy in 2004...wtf sorta message is that sending out?

also, he isnt the coolest guy in 2004 neway, regardless of heroin addiction. hes in rehab. how cool is that.... but not only that he abandons his band to make a new practically identical band called Babyshambles (yea i know its a mutual agreement...but there wouldnt have to be this agreement if he wasnt a ****). what a legend!....he steals off his mates. id love a friend like him.... and all in all ive not seen him do or say nething particularly cool or worthy of note... The Libertines are cool, no doubt about that...Pete however, is a tosser

other than that, the NME list was actually quite good 👆 if they'd have just put "The Libertines" at the top id have been content, not happy cos it wouldnt have been my choice neway 😛... but i wouldnt be soo annoyed about it.
yea but the NME list had a load of ppl i would agree with.... the frontman for Bloc Party, the guitarist for Interpol etc... always gonna be a few you dont agree with in a commercial magazine list tho

Can i just say he didnt abandon his band, he was thrown out of the band, his best mate carl forgave him for nicking stuff of him, so why dont you stop spouting a whole load of shit that you dont understand, your not a fan of him fair enough, but i am so pealse stop going on about them as if they were nothing, cos they are something to me.

and as for the not understanding bit...ive seen people coming down off heroin and struggling to give it up, and it aint pretty. and nowhere near cool

i dont think it matters whether the guy who forgave him, its that he was portrayed in a positive light while being a junkie theif. sure, kobain was a junkie, but he wasn't stealing shit off his friends while he was doing it. theirs my piece

thats my point, to stick a heroin addict theif at the top of the years coolest people list is like trying to say the shit he does is acceptable, when its clearly not...sure he makes good music, but i would never consider him a decent rolemodel or 'cool' person

they did say 'despite that hes a smackhead' but thats really not an excuse, especially since they had the other guy from the band in joint top... which suggests that his heroin addiction had absolutely no sway on how cool he is. when it quite clearly should lol
and anyway, a 'years coolest people' list would obviously be about individuals not the music, otherwise itd be coolest bands

Yeah exactly. We are supposed to talk about Franz. But to those people who hate Pete, he was in a band that were cool, he takes drugs and was in NME's cool list, GET THE **** OVER IT! This sort of thing effects the fans only not people like you who think their all high and mighty to talk about things they really in honest fact couldnt really give a shit about except to put their nose into something were no one really wants them.

Oh and by the way, most Libertines songs are about Pete and Carl, listen to most of their lyrics, of cos what a waster is about Pete and his personal life. Carl and he did write it. Duh!

Franz were the editor for this weeks NME. Its really good you should check it out.
