where is everyone?
well anyway, some kind, wonderful, fantastic person has recorded episode one and posted it on YouTube. Its probally in japanese and there are no subtitles.
BUT
I think we've read the books enough to know whats going on...
and looks as if this kind, wonderful person is going to eventually put subtitles up for us
yea that was good but i allways thought leif was scared of the grey guards
and also i thought barda tied the rope to a tree and took it home with him
i especially like the part where barda leans right down to leifs face after exposing him self, leifs face was classic
hopefully they will dub it in english soon!
hey guys... I was on wikiapedia, and i looked up the DQ anime.
Its says:
Rodda was approached with many film offers, but this studio promised not to change the story, although the main character's hair has been changed from black to blonde.
And from the Anime News Network it has the names of the first 4 episodes...
1.Lief's journey of adventures
2.Girl of the forest, Jasmine
3.The golden knight, Goal
4.Curse of the mysterious giants
Looks like Forests of Silence is only 3 episodes long, but that is expected as they cut half the book, so not to give stuff away (The Part One Section)
And the Japanese Casting List.... (As soon as they release or start auditioning the english roles I will post them up...)

well to fill you in...
part two consists of lief being in the bakery, after climbing a wall to escape the guards... and glaring at the shadow lord mark on the wall. Then him getting home, Anna going all motherly on him, with the hugs and the sobbing, and the where have you been i saw fire coming from the market.... Jarred says something, and Lief does the whole hero speech (i gather... from the tone and expression on his face) on how much he hates the shadow lord... then Jarred gets out the belt, it glows a bit... jarred tells his story, we see a glimpse of jarred leading the royal family away... then Lief gets his sword and cloak, and it is annouced that barda will be joining him. Lief pulls a face, Barda straightens up and throws off the fake hair, beard and rags... to reveal... well what he's going to look like in the rest of the series... then jarred shows them a secert tunnel, in the back of the forge that leads out of the city (if i remember correctly that wasn't there in the book....) Lief and Barda leaves... Jarred watches, with a set face, Anna cries into his shoulder, as Lief vanishes into the dark tunnel.
Part 3.
Barda and Lief are walking in some forest path. Barda is leading, Lief has a sudden out of the blue little brat streak, and decides he wants to lead, pushes past barda and runs forward. Barda shouting at him to stop. Lief trips and falls into a bush (like we saw in one of the preview clips) He spits out some leaves, and looks up. Guess what is looking down at him.
You guessed it a Grey Guard.
Who raises his sword. Lief frozen with fear, just stares with wide eyes. We hear a cry from off screen (I think the translation was along the lines of "hit the deck!" or something...) Cause Lief ducks, and Barda jumps out from the bushes and kills the guard in 2-3 swings.
Lief asks how'd he do that, while staring stupidly at the grey guard. (Who for some reason disintegrates at this point)
FLASHBACK!!
Barda is a young man (no beard) on-top of one of the castle walls fighting crap. He gets knocked off (it appears they took out the... he ran away plot for some reason)
unconscious for a bit. Cut to him hobbling towards the forge, with a walking stick. Lief's parents are saying goodbye to two cloaked figures. Barda sees them, and faints. Anna turns and rushes to his side.
By this time, Lief and Barda are obviously in Wenn Del. The First Forest of Silence. They have stopped in a clearing. (Cause i think lief heard something... or whatever) We see a pair of red eyes up ahead. And Lief gasps, everything starts to go dark around them. Numerous red eyes are surrounding them... and they seem to float around them (probably due to the sound waves...) Barda and Lief flinch a bit from the sound. It gets too much for our young hero and he lunges at the eyes missing. Barda puts his guard down and turns to Lief, and yells at him... about crap. We see Barda flinch, as one pair of eyes is just above his shoulder.
He crumples to the ground. He's been stung duh.
End the episode with Lief crying out to him. (No he doesn't faint yet)
Oh by the way... at one point in part 2 we see fallow talking with the shadow lord about crap.... don't ask me why fallow is being mentioned now. (mabye its cause they technically cut prandine or somthing) they have at least a 1-2 minute conversation about stuff... maybe the disturbance lief caused in the market place or the belt or the royal family.... whatever, maybe even the resistance.
can't remember when this happened in part too however... OH wait it was right before lief got home.
Can't tell you how much i wish i was in japan right now folks, and could speak their language fluently. (of course if i could do the later, i would of dictated the entire thing for you....)
Wow...you really didn't have to do that, but thanks anyway. Seems nothings been butchered too much. Hell I wasn't too surprised about the lack of Min telling Barda about the plot and him running off, since they cut out half of the book.
There was a tunnel like thing in book one, but it was more of a hole in the wall then an actual tunnel, though this way seems a little better, since I was alway wondering how the hell they got out of the city gates in the first place...at least I think there was a wall surrounding the city...
I am very pleased with the animation they have going for it from what I saw...now I just have to pray that the English version has some damn decent voice actors!

Which shows how true they are being to the story...
The Wennbar still has an extendable neck... and the trio still hide from it under the cloak. (I think... it looks like it... considering there is some sort of bark colored material streched out on the branch...)
I only typed up parts 2 and 3 of ep 1....
So for those who didn't get to see it... this is part 1. (from memory)
Its kinda like a prologue, I think its basically just reading out of "The Belt of Deltora" as from the animations its about Adin and the Belt, and the Kings and Queens wearing the Belt less and less, until we finally see the thing in a museum like case.
Then we see the shattering of the belt, quick shot of the Ak-baba and the gems zooming off to their resting places.
We see the silhouette of a man with a long plait... he puts his head in his hands. Flash Grey Guards invading, everyone screaming... absolute chaos.
Cut to a cosy little house on a hill, that oversees the main part of Del... lots of trees around nearby. (About this time there was some writing at the bottom of the screen, which we'll assume says 16 years later)
Sounds of someone hammering metal. Jarred is working on.... something (can't remember what)
Anna comes out, and says something... maybe asking where Lief is, possibly. There is a bit more talking, and then we go into the town square where we see the Guards locking the gate which cuts off the apple tree from the rest of the villagers.
A sweet Innocent little girl speaks up and asks for an apple. Her mother tries to get her away, and the girl protests.
Next thing we know, something has hit the apple tree causing a few apples to fall, and role threw the fence towards the girl.
She breaks free, and grabs some apples.
The guards, raise their weapons, and the a rock hits one in the head. Look up and we see a figure, who's description is fortunately masked by the sun's glare (since the morning sun is directly behind him... convenient) and the fact that he has wrapped some orange material around his face, so only his eyes and a bit of hair is visible (give you three guesses who he is..) he throws two more rocks... sending those guards in a daze. The mother grabs the little girl (who still has the apples by the way) and runs for it. A guard throws a spear... which catches the mother's dress, pinning her to the ground. The guard who threw the spear walks forward and raises his sword at the mother.... and ends up getting tackled by our young hero... who then proceeds to run down the street. Jumping up on some crates and getting up onto a what i think is a tent for one of the market place shops...
The guards bring out their blisters...(they are sort of these cool armbands that shoot out stuff... which look totally awesome) and shot out Lief as he runs across the top of the tent. Which catches on fire (yes folks this is the scene shown in the Emily Rodda Interview clip, when Lief falls off a burning tent)
He trips at the edge, so the orange material around his head catches alight, and he pulls it off and runs.
The little girl and her mother have made a run for it, they get away and probably have a nice meal of apples.
Cut back to the forge, Anna looks up from her laundry as she hangs in out to dry, and cries out as she sees smoke coming from the marketplace. Jarred looks at the smoke, and says something to Barda, who is standing behind him.
Cut to a scene of the guards walking the streets in groups, searching for Lief. Breaking stuff... sort of reminded me of imperial stormtroopers.
Lief is hiding in the in-between part of the buildings, behind some piled up wood, he starts to sneak away and... a plank of wood near him falls, alerting the guards on the main street. He bolts....
Reaches a dead end, as he tries to figure out what to do... a rope appears threw a nearby window of a ruined building. He climbs it, and lands in the bakery.
The guards arrived just after this.... as there is now trace of Lief or the rope... they are baffled on how he got away.
And then we go into part 2!
By the way... someone mentioned somewhere on the net that sunrise briefly mentions the DQ anime in 2004 or something... can someone confirm this for me?
