I have researched Nikola Tesla for about a year now and have had some thoughts about the recent earthquake that caused the tsunami in South-East Asia. Nikola Tesla created many inventions that were revolutionary and brilliant. His name is hardly mentioned in textbooks at public schools while Marconi, Roentgen, and de Forest are not only mentioned but credited for some of Tesla’s inventions. You can research more about Tesla on your own time. I recommend purchasing some books on him. The point of this post is not to talk about Tesla as a person but on the subject of one of his inventions. Nikola Tesla and Albert Einstein, someone who you have surely heard of, worked on several projects during the 1930’s and 1940’s. These were performed for the U.S. Government. One of Tesla’s inventions was the Earthquake Machine. There is record of him using it to cause a building to shake. People outside of the building called the police and ambulances.
A theory upon Tesla’s death is that government officials were sent to obtain the papers in his home that would help them with National Defense. They could have obtained Tesla’s plans for the Earthquake Machine at this time or maybe an earlier time. Who knows if Tesla had given them a working model but they could use this machine to help them out or hurt their enemies. They probably have a version of something similar to his invention at HAARP. With the situation in Iraq looking even worse for America, they might have created this earthquake to get the attention off of their situation in Iraq. They could send aid to South-East Asia now and maybe in the future try to succeed where they failed with Iraq in turning the country into a democracy. There is already a strong want for true democracy in South East Asia but is having many problems. It is much more probable that if America went into South-East Asia, they would be able to succeed and look good for the world.

Amazing canada is sending 350 million dollars US or 427 million Canadain. 😱 That quite a bit from a country that small. also plus 81 million US by the canadain people. So canada is sending 450 million US total in aid. Amazing for a country that small.
Why are you giving that in USD numbers? 😖 Just use your own. People should be smart enough to use a conversion site.
It's a shame nobody donated billions when those people were alive. Maybe then they would have been able to build a better community and survive the tsunamis a little better.
Oh wait, nobody gave a shit about them then.
When it takes near the million mark in deaths, to make you care about people who share the planet, doesn't it make you think "Well, maybe the Human Race are a little self-absorbed"?

"as for being self absorbed.. hmm I think humanity has always been that way.. noone really knows the impact of something until either its really really tragic on a massive scale.. or it happens to someone you love or yourself.. just the way we are"
My point is, if it takes a natural disaster of these proportions to make you care enough to donate billions to those people you don't even know, then you why not donate that much to prevent it from happening and actually save lives instead of compensating for ones that are lost? If USA, UK and other citizens are so generous, then donate billions to all the other countries that are much more susceptible to natural disasters and other tragic incidents now rather than waiting till it happens.

Because if you donated ahead of time the country organizations would put the money in a high-interest account and donators would rather keep that interest. When you are dealing with this amount of money the interest would be monumental.
Originally posted by Alpha CentauriBut dont those powers only care about getting fame for saving them 'after' the disaster? The fame level of donating after a disaster is higher than offering them some money just for so called poverty reasons.. its just like saying "I love you" too often.. it becomes less appreciated (or meaningless) with increased frequency

Yeah but if you walked into your bedroom and found your girl in bed with another guy, if she said "I love you" right then, for the first time in ages, I doubt it'd make you feel any better.

Today, our youth channels JIM and TMF join hands for a benefit show in aid of the victims of the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia. ‘Tsunami 1212 Kick Off’ will be broadcast live on both channels between 5 and 8.30 p.m. before the main VTM/TV1 show.
The aim of the programme is to raise as much money as possible. During the show an auction of objects donated by artists, sports people, stars… will be hold.
For example, Lars Ulrich' s drumsticks and drum skin signed by all band members, highest bid so far: € 540
