No. It's an expensive set if you're just in it for the nicer-looking first movie. The transfer was worth the upgrade [of the first Matrix] for me, since I didn't have either sequel yet.
It is the only DVD where the visuals encouraged me to upgrade, if that means anything. Usually I'm like, "So the visuals and sound is a little better, I already own the movie."
Plus 35 hours of extras... damn. This set will keep me busy for a while. The bonus disc for both sequels supposedly have more than the previous bonus discs (I'm excited for the live action scenes from the Enter the Matrix game). And on top of those, there are three more discs of bonus footage not available on any of the previous releases.
The disappointment from what I've been reading on this set is the commentaries though. Though the commentary of the first Matrix wasn't anything special, the two new commentaries for each movie in this set doesn't sound promising. There's one from a couple philosophers, then another with a couple movie critics. I don't understand why they didn't include the commentary with people that actually had something to do with the movie.
If you enjoyed the whole trilogy, I say it's well worth it.
