Sorry for your loss. Though I'm skeptical of the "warrent" issue. The Sony website says they will repair or replace any PSP that involves dead pixels or broken buttons. This is because the Sony company is responsible for the product's viablitity. If there are dead pixels BEFORE the owner receives it, then Sony is responsible. In Japan people who received dead pixels were automatically reimbursed.
"Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) warrants to the original purchaser that each of the constituent products of this PSP system shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase (the "Warranty Period"😉. If one or more of the aboveidentified products is determined to be defective during the Warranty Period, SCEA's liability shall be limited to the repair or replacement of this product with a new or refurbished product at SCEA's option."
I haven't heard any reports of dead pixels either. Many of my friends who got one didn't have any problems. No gaming magazine, website or informational resource has detailed any incidents of dead pixels.
"If you find the spots are interfering with gameplay/video viewing during this period, we will support the various elements of [the PSP] warranty," the rep said. Each PSP comes with a one-year limited warranty, which is on page 125 of the PSP manual. If a PSP is "determined to be defective" by SCEA, the company will see to the "repair or replacement of this product [the PSP] with a new or refurbished product at SCEA's option."
The max number of dead pixels were at a record high of six (which is the size of a period. So unless your PSP is a anomaly then...
This has nothing to do with me not liking the PSP. If somebody did this for the DS, I would think the same thing.
You just wasted a full page telling people what Gamespot gave to the launch titles. If I didnt know better, it would seem that your being paid by Sony and Gamespot to advertise these games.
If they were interested, they would check them out personally.
Its not like your even discussing it, your just coming in and writing "this game got this score." And afterwords, you dont even comment about the game.
If everybody did that for every game, these videogame forums would be kinda of dull.
I discussed the matter LONG ago. I've exhausted my "talk" about it. Sorry Smasandian, but it's obvious your intense dislike for PSP has made you lash out against all things PSP related. Satsujin had the nerve to make up a bogus story about the PSP.
I'm not adveristing anything for a giant conspiracy. I'm just giving updates on the PSP for people to talk about. Which was done on a DS thread. Easier access for people who don't want to look.
The DS is in trouble in my opinion. But like you said there's the new handheld Nintendo is working on. 😉

even after paying 250 dollars for a defective product.. you are still at their mercy to recieve a new psp as reimbursement

Satsujin had the nerve to make up a bogus story about the PSP.
Sony says the off-colored pixel problem is common in all LCD screens. "A very small number of dark pixels or continuously lit pixels is normal for LCD screens, and is not a sign of a malfunction," a representative for Sony Computer Entertainment America.
ALL LCDs have them. I had a top of the line plasma television with dead pixels. People don't understand the science of it. It's unavoidable. The dead pixels usually go away after a few runs.
" and sony does NOT warrant dead pixels.."
You said the above. Obviously they do.

You specifically said that Sony doesn't warrant the PSP for dead pixels. Under any warrenty, reimbursement or replacement is WARRANTY.

From your mouth.

and they dont..your psp basically has to be spitting out dead pixels for weeks for them to feel sorry for you.. they specifically stated that the dead pixel must be a malignant issue (see above) "If a PSP is "determined to be defective" determined?.. of course a technology will persist in being defective if it was defective to begin with.. and I feel sorry for you if you believe them when they consider these dead pixels to be prevalent in all lcd's... as that is a manufacturers faulty issue
Not to mention I dont feel like paying them 250 dollars for their product to hear such a line of crap (they'll go away in a few runs? this aint plasma TV)
Two weeks. The dead pixels EVENTUALLY go away. ALL LCD screens have them regardless of manufacturer. Just like all mp3 players batteries need to be replaced. It's a very common "defect". There isn't a LCD screen to date that doesn't have dead pixels.
I have a roommate (bit of geek who squandered ALL his savings on it) who couldn't wait and bought a PSP import. The PSP had dead pixels. They went away in four days. Why? Because the PSP need time to fully authenticate the colors.
If you understand the science of it, dead pixels are common in ALL LCD screens. It's unavoidable. You won't actually know until its running. Either you replace it or you can simply wait.
The PSP has 480 x 272 pixel, or rather 16.77 million pixels. Each pixel on a color TFT monitor requires three "sub-pixel" transistors; one for each color in the Red/Green/Blue color spectrum, which works out to 16.77 million tiny transistors in one PSP 14.1" screen. Now, while it is possible to build TFT screens in which all the pixels work perfectly,it is impossible to guarantee 100 percent perfection in all those millions of tiny transistors while keeping the price of the product affordable. For perfection, it would cost at least the same price of an expensive desktop computer. A pixel becoming stuck either on or off is known as a "pixel anomaly," and that it considers a small number of such anomalies to be acceptable. The possibility of having a bad transistor out of a total of 16.77 million is there and any maligant transistor will result in a sub-pixel anomaly.
That's the science of it. It's literally impossible to fully guarantee a LCD screen without dead pixels.
