Funny you mention that.

The production crew actually ran out of both budget & time when it came to making the creature itself.

They managed to make one model that was secured to a trolley on wheels & literally pulled by string.

The other prop was a life size animatronic head of a boar that was mounted to a wheel barrow.

One of my fav films made by a fav director, Russell Mulcahy (HighLander).

So you bring this up to say this movie even with practical effects had limitations?

I finally got around to watching Cop Car and Keanu.

Cop Car was a good flick, and it makes me look forward to seeing Spider-Man: Homecoming even more. Acting was good all around. The story was sick, and a good mixture of a f.ucked up crime yarn and a kid movie about running away from home. The shot selection was beautiful.

Keanu was fun. It was hit or miss, but I dug it. I had no idea what it was about going in, so I was surprised to learn that it was all about an adorable little cat who looks exactly like my missing cat. Throughout the entire film, I was screaming that those assholes have my cat!

First one is good in that noir type of way...the 2nd..total pile of WTF!? [/B]

I like A Dame To Kill For. I don't get what people don't like about it aside from the occasional retroactive plot hole it adds to the original movie.

Jus saying it was a low budget movie that nearly flopped because they couldn't get the boar to look realistic/scary enough.

The same animatronic problems Spielberg had with Jaws.

Let's see if I can remember all the movies I've watched recently...

Wrong Turn
Let Me In
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
Hell or High Water
theater: A Cure For Wellness
Moonlight
Arrival

Liked most of them except for Moonlight. Super lame. It's gotta be the Brokeback Mountain of the ghetto (but I've never seen Brokeback Mountain, of course).

Let Me In & the original are favourites.
Good novel too.

LOL
My accountant told me about Moonlight. He likes independent films.
Conversation got weird when he kept bringing up the hand-job scene....

lol.. Moonlight is boring. So far I still think Hacksaw Ridge is the best of the Best Picture nominees, although Arrival is pretty amazing, too.

Let Me In is great. But I can't help but think it might have been a bit more interesting if it really was some Satanic cult instead of a vampire girl. The cop mentioned a couple times wondering if he was part of some Satanic cult or something. When the girl attacked the guy in the alley I kind of thought that was in the wrong movie or something... :/ Matt Reeves is a stellar director, though.

The novel & deleted flashback scenes does hint of a cult...where Satanic priests kidnap children & brainwashes them. Both the novel & original even implies that it's a boy whose genitals are multilated (by the cult) giving the character an a-sexual aspect. Also explains why the old man was loyal because he was a pedo who fell in love & stayed loyal to do all the killings.

Oh, that's cool. But what I mean is it might have been more interesting if she hadn't been a vampire at all and it was just related to a Satanic cult. Sort of keep the movie in the real world. Because I was actually a little disappointed when she started jumping around killing the guy as a CG vampire girl. Maybe it's just me... It would have required some major re-writing, yes, but would have kept the film a bit more grounded.

A Cure for Wellness.

The DUFF.
I liked it!

From memory, in ancient times, the vampires disguised themselves as priests who preyed on improvised secluded villages. They would exchange food for the first born.

Yeah the cgi vampire was purely Matt Reeves.
In the original, a lot is left to the imagination. She attacks out of pure hunger, very inexperienced & sloppy at killing. Considering also, she always had a "follower" to do all the killing for her.
