Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief (2015)
Great documentary. A must-see if you have any interest in Religion in general. The film makes it very clear that Scientology is really just a manifestation of L. Ron Hubbard's fuc#ed-up personality.

Green Inferno. That was a steaming cuppa WTF, man!
It was a decent idea squandered on mediocre (at best) filmmaking. Basically how I felt about Hostel and Eli Roth's other work.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2just as good as the first one.
Good to hear.
I've been watching a lot of BBC nature special documentaries lately. They're really awesome. Two on Netflix, Galapagos and Madagascar. And just started another one called Wild Brazil (no, it's NOT Brazilian Girls Gone Wild, unfortunately), following a few different groups of animals amongst the mind-bogglingly amazing landscapes and terrain.
The Man From Earth (2007) 8/10.
"An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he has a longer and stranger past than they can imagine."
I really like it. Dialogue-driven, so there's no action or special effects. It's a fascinating movie, though, well worth the high ratings and awards, imo.

Yeah, I've seen it 2 or 3 times and I still don't really get it.

Did you see there is a sequel coming out?
"In this exclusive interview with Writer / Director Richard Schenkman and Producer Eric D. Wilkinson, we learn more about The Man from Earth: Holocene, the upcoming sequel to their cult classic science fiction film."

No, I didn't know. Thanks for the headsup. I'll be keeping my eye out for that. I need to watch it again.
Unforgettable 5/10
Unbelievable flaws that are avoidable is why it is a decent movie that underachieved because it could have been great. So that's the reason why is unforgettable in a unintended way.
The ending is kind of sequel bait and a violent great climax.
First movie I saw with Katherine Heigl playing a villain and she is great as the villain.
Scarecrow (2013)
Decent acting, a great climax, and most characters are likable.
Huge flaw it's not made clear what exactly released the Scarecrow.
This is a horror slasher movie set in the countryside which I can't recall much other movies using that location.
The Scarecrow looks like Slenderman with the claws of Lady Deathstrike which is a terrific unique look instead of a uncreative boring ordinary scarecrow look.

I saw you watched this from the OTF. Thanks for the review.
Doesnt seem like something i wanna watch, though, villain notwithstanding.
Fifty Shades Darker (2017)
Somehow it manages to be more entertaining than the first one only because there is a little more plot and character development, but it's still a giant turd. Stupid dialogue interrupted by random sex scenes with the same damn pop songs over and over again. Did they even try to cast the characters to have some chemistry on screen? You'd think they would...
The Mist (2007)
Gave the B&W version a go since it's the version that Darabont apparently prefers. But I have to disagree. I know his reasons for preferring it, but I just didn't think the blood and horror stood out well enough to really engage me without the color. The film needs the color. So halfway through I switched to the color version again. It's a brilliant movie and I appreciate the ending more and more each time I see it.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 (2014)
In preparation for next weekend for Vol. 2. Somehow I still manage to laugh at the same dialogue and guirky humor from Rocket and Starlord everytime. It cracks me up. Can't wait for Vol. 2.
Split (2016) 7/10.
Maybe I'm just feeling generous, but I think it was a decent movie. I should have deducted a point for the stupidity/timidity of the girls who didn't fashion a weapon by smashing the mirror and using it to overwhelm their captor, but I liked the rest of the movie enough (especially as a set-up for the trilogy finale) that I decided to leave it as a 7/10. Splendid job by James McAvoy.
