The Act of Killing (2012)
Staggering documentary about Indonesian genocide perpetrators and military police who still control the country. Highly recommended, should be required viewing.
Sicario (2015)
Good movie. Really good movie. Maybe a little slow moving for my taste at times, but that's not always a fault. This director shows major chops. I can definitely see why Ridley Scott picked him to do the Blade Runner sequel. He has a beautiful eye for cinematography and framing shots, at least as good as Ridley Scott. I might even feel comfortable (at least in some respects) with this guy taking over the Alien series if Ridley dies before he finishes, Jebus forbid).
^ Yeah, very good movie. Del Toro is a beast. He looked very different all clean shaven and neat, haha. My wife kept saying he looked like Brad Pitt.
Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them (2016)
F#ck, it was boring. I fell asleep halfway through and missed the last half. Didn't care. I didn't know the title was going to be quite so literal. What a boring movie. I'd rather watch the Harry Potter movies again. Katherine Waterston is good, though. So I'm excited to see her in Alien: Covenant.
lol, yeah. I pretty much stopped caring 1/4 of the way through. I wish I had known it was so boring. 73%? Seriously??

Sicario might be one of my favorite movies of the 2000s. It's damn good and absolutely unflinching in how it shows how brutal the drug trade is.
The Lost City of Z
9/10
The Panther and snake in the Jungle plus other animals all look utterly real so I'm guessing animatronics was used or practical effects.
It is a great adventure drama movie that is based on the non fiction book of the same name.
Changes were made but understandable including since showing all expeditions to the Amazon that Percy went on would use most of the time so other scenes likely would not be able to be used.
Realistic action, great drama, decent acting, spectacular locations or sets including the Amazon jungle plus a Mansion, and believable 3 dimensional characters including Percy Fawcett the protagonist.
It has great messages including why the saying War is Hell is true, accept persons that are different from you, etc.
It has a believable ending for a movie based on the non fiction book.
