USH'S STAR WARS GAME- CAMPAIGN II EPISODE II (DARK SIDE)- In the Coils of the Serpent

Galder will try to counter the spin, as Zink suggested.

It's a stabilised yaw spin in an atmospheric environment. Just fighting it won't do anything unless you can get the auto-controls working properly again, and with the gyroscope out of whack that's damn hard!

Can Galder work on that? Or would it take too long?

Re-working the whole thing from scratch? Minutes if you worked like a maniac.

It needs to calibrate from something right now, and you can't point it at the ground because you can't get a fix on it. Worse, you have entered the atmosphere way away from any cities you could get a landing beacon fix on!

So, we need to fixate to something on the ground, because Galder has no clue where the ground is because we are spinning to our deaths...

Any land marks or significant areas being picked up on the sensors that Galder could try to land by? Or are the sensors going crazy too?

They are working fine, but there is nothing but fields and...

... no! Wait! There's a ship down there, a HUGE ship- it has an open beacon transmission!

That's a one in a million miracle.

Never tell me the odds!

Galder quickly calibrates the ship to the ship.

You've got a fix! The auto systems can stablise the spin!

Though you are still in that death dive... impact in 15 seconds.

"Galder, pull up!" Rand shouts.

"I'm trying!" Galder shouts back, pulling back hard on the control stick.

Oh holy hell, this is going to be a close one!!!

Retros fired! Of course, what with half the crew going for Rah, very few of you are strapped in, and you are sent tumbling across the ship, with Galder trying to guide the ship into this...

... starport? That ship is parked in a starport? In a city? Why the heck didn't you notice the landing beacon? You must have been working too hard lately, Galder, to have missed that. Which is a pain, because for a start, you wouldn't have landed IN the starport if you could have helped it!

IMPACT! The whole ship wrenches violently and something breaks as you hit the ground at way above the safety speed, and skid to a careless halt across the landing area as your landing stilts break.

The ship is intact.

Galder slumps in the chair.

"Phew!" he exclaims, then turns to Rah, moving towards him with an intense glare. "What the hell was that?"

Rand, resisting the temptation to groan from the pain he was given by the impact, and resisting to choke the life out of Rah, tries to pull himself back onto the sofa.

"Galder, give him time to explain himself..." Rand says.

What does Rand know of Kuoni, if he can make a Savoir-Faire roll?

"This is Pharios Starport control to unidentified contact, please identify yourselves."

A cultured voice cuts in.

"Pharios control, don't worry, the ship in question is here for a private meeting with me. They don't seem to be badly damaged and are in no need of assistance."

"Roger that, Flotsam. Out."

Very little, Rand, more than I said- mind you, it's on a trading route, so it's not totally out of the way.

...cultured?

Galder, flexing his fists, obeys Rand this once.

"What now?" he asks, looking out the viewport.

Galder, the ship out there- where that transmission comes from- looks almost as if it was built by randomly shoving three vast cargo freighters together at odd angles into one mess of a ship. It's the most hideous vessel you have ever seen.

Wait... it HAS been built by shoving three vast cargo freighters together! It's taking up most the starport.

"What a piece of junk!" Galder declares, heading for the exit hatch. He keeps on guard, due to Rah's ramblings, as he exits the ship.

Rand, you unfortunately cannot get up to see... but did traffic control say the Flotsam? You are sure it did...

Galder, a hatchway in the ship is opening, and a humanoid figure is emerging, walking with an odd gait.

Galder frowns, and moves to meet the humanoid figure, keeping his blaster at the ready...
