(i would go for an assasination attempt on vigo OR bora. somehow i doubt that would totally displease jena here 😉 you could motivate both pretty well. vigo that he is not a great administrator and bora because someone obviously wants someone else in line to power. as for our employer...tell her he didn't disclose his identity....but..our reward is substantial. he's a man of great resources. bluff it out 🙂 )

As for takuan....he heads for another bar i guess, and addresses the bartender after exchanging a few greetings and casual remarks
"what's the feel on vigo and the family these days here on the moon" (the name evades me 🙂 )

So, what about my idea of telling Bora that Jena brought us here?

a bit late...and it wouldn't work...he's not simply just going to believe us because we say it...

(Fernau)

"What? Everyone loves Vigo!" says the bartender, cautiously, with a wide smile. Your instincts, sharp as ever, have led you subconsciously to someone you can work with.

scan on him to see if he lied, and if he fears i might be an anonimous interrogator coming from vigo.
if yes
"i'm asking as an outsider on fernau...people around here seem to not be so sympathetic to the lead. "

Err... he's not lying as in he is desperately covering up his need to kill Vigo, but he's throwing up a screen rather than talking truly.

Do you want to Persuade or Lie this guy into somewhere helpful?

yes...lie about me being an outsider. i want to gain his trust and make him share his real thoughts

(I quite like your "We're here to kill your idiot brother" idea, Dexx)

use it

+2, Takuan, good enough! In fact, you spark off quite a convo from the barflies.

No-one MINDS Vigo as such... the Serpent has had worse leaders. He;s not even a bad leader; the Serpent holds together well, even if at the periphery it is a law unto itself. If anyone has a complaint about Vigo, it is that he is boring. Not boring personally; he has a great charisma, as you have seen...

... but the Serpent was founded on the legend of Siva. Siva was quite physically capabl;e bu he was mjore than just a bully; he was an organisational genius, creating plots within plots that secured power over half a Galaxy from an organisation h built from scratch. People miss those days. Vigo never tries anything radical or different; he does what he does well but... people like to see new things.

In many ways, the Serpent is becoming like the Hutts. The Hutts are like the Cynellise; they live for ages and take the long-term view of everything; things in the Hutts are uch the same now as they have been for millennia.

The Serpent has always been run by (relatively) short-lived Humans. It has always been bright and new and fresh and daring and exciting. Sometimes it is tried to be too clever for its own good and lost out, but at least it tried. Now it is stuck in a rut. But still they don't complain as such, because it is making money, it is secured, and it is as powerful as it ever was. Vigo is feared, his name causes many things to happen. But will it last?

Take the rising independance of the outer areas- the Citadel is almost an irrelevance to them. Power has devolved out to smaller headquarters elsewhere (some run by the Lantarnan kids, others now). They will grow too powerful for their own boots, and so Vigo will smash them. No-one doubts he will do it, he's good at that sort of thing., But they will grow again, and he will smash them again, and so on... where is the person who can twist them all around his finger so that they never become a threat? Siva was like that. Vigo is not a politician- as you already heard, noit an administrator- he does well in letting plotd cancel each oither out... but he never really could come up with a plot himself.

No-one minds him then. He's a solid leader. But... no-one would cry for him if someone better replaced him.

But who can replace him? Bora? If Bora does, it will be the same, but Bora just might not be able to smash the rebellious cells. Frankly, people will do anything rather than accept Bora. Mika then? Everyone expects Mika to kill Bora at some point. Mika could do it. But he's not well liked; he has no interpersonal touch. Jena, of course, is perfect- she is exactly the sort of person who could run the Serpent. But she's a woman; it can't happen. Deva is irreleant; he neither seeks it, wants it, or could get it. Yago would love it, but obviously he is a tremendous cretin. Incdientally, Vigo disowns Yago semi-regularly. People here are used to it.

So... no great problems with Vigo as such... just problems in general. Of course most of the Serpent is just dumb muscle and doesn't care; these people are mostly loudmouths. You;d have to go higher to get more directly useful info.

"and who do you know higher (someone least bit important) in rank that shares these opinions?" asks takuan wanting to 'go higher"

"Ah, plenty of people upstairs moan," he says, "especially the ones with a traditional feeling, or some of the historians."

"yes, however...access upstairs is quite a priviledge of which i don't benefit. midn giving me a location?"

"They don't staple themselves to one place, you know!"

"at least an area to ask for"

"One of the bars uostairs? Or the library, but that's on the top floor."

"We're...here...to...assassinate your...idiot...brothers! Turn off...the...power...and I'll say...more..."

"Hmm," she says. "Do you mean all my brothers are idiots and must die, or that you are here to kill the ones that are idiots?"

"Bora was our likely target, what does that tell you?"

"It means it is neither because you are leaving Yago alive..."
