i personally didnt like most of the evolution show but look at it from this angle...

i babysit some kids every now and then and they watch the show. before that they never seen anything x-men. they really got into it because the fact that the x-men were kids appealed to them. they love it when i tell them stories that i remember from x-men comics. i showed them some of my comics and now most of those kids i babysit read comics a lot. it brings in a younger audiance and is not really ment for us older people. if it gets some kids to want to read, then all the better.

Good post. Evolution was a great show and it was nice to see Cyclops in the spotlight.

I liked Evolution. And I liked the original, too.

Don't know which I liked better. Probably Evolution by a smidge. 🙂

X-Men Evolution was trash made to cater to the angsty masses of teens and preteens everywhere. It was too emotional and too whiney for my taste. I agree, again, with Disappear. While the show was a bit corny with dialogue and veered off the path of the comics it still stayed excitingly true to the concept and mythos of the X-Men. Evolution did not. Plus Cal Dodd's Wolverine is the BEST. No one since has ever done a decent Wolverine voice in a cartoon.

I liked them both for different reasons.

Both sucked

try telling the millions of people who watched and are still watching it sucked...the results for you could be sinister and apocalyptic.

Well, the liked the original series better even though I didn't really fully understand it (I was like ten or something). There were some serious issues in that show and when I watched the tapes again I was completely shocked that it was for kids. The things they dealt with were...intense. I'm sixteen and I just started to fully understand the larger-than-life issues. But, yeah, I was told that the original series was really based off the comic books (which I never read but I intend to now) and it was sort of for the fans of those comic books.
I never realized there were so many X-Men. I had always thought it was just Cyclops, Jean, Xavier, Storm, Beast, Wolverine, Jubilee, Gambit and Rogue. Then I hear of all these other people and it was just crazy.
The only complaint I have about the original series was how they made Gambit and Rogue's relationship so...immature and made him look like an ass. I hated that!

Evo Gambit is better. He doesn't talk in third person all the time either--even though his accent is a little off.

"Don't no body trust Gambit?! den Gambit don't need no body!"

X-Men Evolution sucked. That's why it was canceled. X-Men : TOS won various animated awards and was one of the highest rated Saturday Morning Cartoons ever.

I have the entire 90's series on DVD. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at:

The 5th and 6th seasons weren't that good though. The writing just went downhill after the 4th season. But the 90's series is much, much better than Evo

Evolution was so dissapointing for me. I was also disgusted at how weaker it was than 90s cartoon. When I was watching it, I was just saying what is this, a joke. It was just weak, especially compared to 90s.

The peak was with the end of Beyond good and Evil, which was nothing less then amazing. The 5th adn 6th season werent that good, but still much better than Evo.

And as I know critics ranked 90s X-Men: TAS as one of the highest rated animated series ever.

The original its much better then evolution by far

X-Men Evolution was a fine series. TAS was good too.
