yeah id say that pretty much sums it up

It was set in a dystopian totalitarian future -

Spoiler:
the rulers were so dumb to let the protagonist near them while he was armed! Big Brother or the Benefactor wouldn't have made that mistake!

how are the fight scenes and what is it rated R for?

Fight scenes are insane, as is the choreography, and it's R for violence, naturally.

are the fight scenes like the matrix?

I'd say better, personally. The gunplay is the biggest draw. The cinematography, the way it's shot, is sick. i.e. Christian Bale with machine guns in his hands, arms crossed, and spraying right to left, uncrossing his arms...ohhhhhhh...man. droolio

yea this movie is absolutely amazing.. im mad i never got to see it in the theaters because i love it... when he spins the shotgun around in the guys face.. 😱 hell of a good movie

i wish bale and diggs had a longer samurai fight though.

Preston's technique is called Gun Kata:
"The Gun Kata treats the gun as a total weapon. Each new position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents, while keeping the defendant clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire."
Whoa... shock

Yeah... It was mad nice... Thought R rated cause the whole population leads with the symbol of Hitler... But the fighting sence were nice... I like the first one where he slides into the room with the blown up door...

I'm the oppposite. I LOVE how short this fight is.

It proved just how good Bales character was. And it shown how p*ssed he was too.

I loved the whole "Let the men talk, son" attitude of that short and sweet fight.

It didn't need to go into some overblown duel that lesser films would be compelled to follow. I respected that and is one of the reasons why this film excels as an action movie.

Not really. Most of the scenes are shot in real-time, giving every scene an intense, impressive feel to it. The violence is functional, which is what I find lacking in many films of this nature. It's just in your face, good old fashioned action but with superb innovative twists that the likes of the Wachowskis couldn't even dream of (and if they did dream of it, they'd ham it up with slow motion spins and tell tale CGI crap).

I shown it to my bro the other day and he was like "this is the best action movie ever".

Yea its not real but some people are trying to re-create the art...
not doing a great job but its ok...
a simple google search would leat you to them,
but yea it would be cool if it was real,

Man, this movie has been one of my favorites for a year or two. Really incredible. I've watched it quite a few times.

I just saw this flick for the first time and I'm neither impress or disappointed. I'm sorta in the middle. I can see why people were comparing this to the Matrix. Is all that liberating humans from their oppressors blah, blah, blah...

That face slice near the end was a very crappy CGI. Didn't look very good. Fight scenes were okayish but rather clumsy. What the hell? Christian Bale is the only one firing a weapon in a room loaded with guys with semi-automatics? What kind of shit is that? The villains in the Matrix, Desperado, and even Hard Boiled at least shoot their guns at something. These guards were just standing there like idiots waiting for Bale to shoot. That was lame 👇

Overall the movie is okay. But I can see why this thing headed straight to DVD after released. Too overly done, but appealing to watch.

3 out 5

I wasn't expecting much from this movie for the same reason as the rest of you - that it was a ripoff of 'The Matrix'.

It's nowhere near anything like 'The Matrix'. Black coats. That's it.

Great film, maybe not my style of fight scenes, but certainly original and definitely worth seeing.

Faction

i thought this movie was great!!! one question i have ....

Spoiler:
was there any connection between the Father character saying "you are walking on my dreams" , however it was phrased, and Bale's old partner saying it before he is shot
i couldnt make the connection

equilibrium rocked, give christian bale a lightsabre and i reckon he could take on a sith lord
