"Equilibrium"

Sorry for bumping the thread, but since i noticed Cine merged all the Equilibrium threads into one i thought i wouldn't give the guy more trouble. So......as a huge fan of the movie, as well as Brave New world and 1984, i can say this movie was excellently done, given its INFIMATELY small budget compared to the matrix movies. As for similarities between the two, i can only think of similar release dates and clothes. If you understand the concept behind each movie you can see that.

On another note, Here's a pretty nifty test to see which Equilibrium character you are. I'm preston 👆

THE TEST

I tried the test and I am also Preston. Loved the movie definitely one of my favourite movies.

shouldt they make like a special edition dvd or something? since it has such a large cult fan base.

I don't see that happening as they haven't done it in 3 years time yet.....or maybe they have and i missed it cry

I just bought this film. I saw it a while ago and have liked it ever since. Finally got around to buying it today.

Bump, still love this movie.

Great movie. I like these 1984esque stories.

Christin Bale could play Neo much better, did anyone notice that Keanu didn't even make any facial exprettions the whole trilogy.

I was thinking that too. Maybe Bale and Reeves should've traded roles. Christian Bale was trying not to act while he was taking the anti-emotion drug, while it comes natural to Keanu Reeves.

BUMP. 🤺

I've seen this film before, and just rented it again recently.

It just gets better with time.

Lots of people posting about it on a Batman talkback on AICN reminded me: this film has a HUGE cult following.

Loved everything about it, and it's actually darker and more intense than Matrix 2 or 3.

Yeah i loved i just bought it recently i actually like it more than Matrix 2 or 3 not the first though.

Christian Bale never fails

Sean Bean!

Love this movie....way better than the Matrix imo... but a sidenote about the movie, the director bet Bale like 200 dollars he would be cast in the next batman movie, and at that time a Batman movie wasn't even greenlit.

Definitely better than 2 and 3 of the trilogy, but nowhere near as good as the first Matrix. Eq is still a fantastic film, enjoyed it a lot.

As for Bale taking the Neo part, ANYONE would be better than Reeves... Even Will Smith turned down the role of Neo.

On this movie, showing any kind of emotions are prohibited.

Equilibrium is a downright good movie; better than all three Matrix films imo, if that's what people are rating it against.

If you're a Sean Bean fan, check out the movie "Bravo Two Zero", it was a made for television movie in the U.K., so it's fairly low budget, but it's good regardless. It's about a group of S.A.S. guys during the first Iraq War. Remember this line, "Andy, the fingers", if you plan on watching it.

I thought it was an ambitious movie with some exciting visuals, but it really stumbled over itself in the story presentation.

As for comparing this film to the matrix series. I really dont see the connection other than the sci-fi element. Equilibirum is a combination of fahrenheit 451 and 1984. Although, the matrix may not have been completely original, it did not have political undertone. I personally believe the matrix did a far better job in realizing its story and presentation of character development, but again, its like comparing apples and oranges to me. A better comparison would be..,Equilibrium and 1984 or the matrix and eXistenz

I love sleeper movies that are awesome. I agree with rages that Equilibirum should be on it's own and not compared to Matrix.

Bale is one of the best actors to date and picks his roles wisely.
