Mace would lose to Vader, in a very, VERY close duel.
Why do people always think that people never try as hard as they can. Is everyone a slacker? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well the Vader luke thing might be true, he was probably conflicted and didn't really know what to do... He didn't want to lose either thats for sure otherwise he would have just killed himself, but i'd probably didn't do him any good that he was fighting his son.
we all know Obi one raised his lightsaber and closed his eyes, if that isn't a bulletproof way to lose then i don't know what is.... The rest probably didn't throw their fights they would have absolutly no reason too. Only Obi did, and Vader was just to confused about things to trully put himself in 100%
A safer route would have been to make Sidious just some corrupt but decrepid old Sith whol was a puppetmaster and lightning chucker and not much else. But now he's supposively one of the best lightsaber masters, etc, etc. Best Sith lord ever, etc. etc. Yoda's also the best lightsaber duellist ever, etc. etc., even though he looked like he was having trouble stirring the swamp with his stick in ESB... etc. etc. Anakin is god, etc. etc. whereas before he was just big, darkly dressed, and dangerous. etc. etc.
Hype and a generation gap have led to some unsettling developments in the Star Wars prequels. I believe if they had been made, say, in the eighties right after ROTJ, those above ideas and other things like ridiculous CGI, midi-chlorians, and Jar Jar wouldn't be a factor.
It's possible, but I think midichlorians still would have been around anyway. As much as many of you hate them, I think it's awesome that the prequel Jedi had so much knowledge and insight, they found the microscopic organism that allows the force to flow into you. Interesting IMHO.
Earlier, Janus, you asked why would Sidious throw the fight against Windu just to seduce Anakin? Well, he needs Anakin. He wants someone to do the dirty work for him. Like clean out the Jedi temple, eliminate the seperatists and whatnot. Besides, Anakin is the perfect apprentice with more potential and power than anyone, (Sith or Jedi) before him. People already know of Anakin and his abilities, and how he is the "Hero without Fear." With someone of that stature "Saving you from an assassanation attempt" you look more like the good guy. A large part of manipulating Anakin is that it makes his story more believable to the Senate, so he can declare his Empire.
I mean, what good is a puppet mastering, lightning chucking, Sith Master without a bad*** enforcer?
I'll give you that. I just think the Chosen One theory was kinda off. I could digest midi_chlorians if it weren't for the prophecy. If the prophecy hadn't been introduced, Anakin would still kick ass, and be hella powerful, and would still more or less do all he's done so far. Nothing would really change, other than there wouldn't be so many issues regarding just how good Anakin is in regards to ancient Force users, and what not.
But all old guys with bedsores and large thrones need enforcers, true dat.
I agree with you, I'm not a huge fan of the prophecy and all the jargon, but it's there, so I accept it. Reluctantly, however.
But you know, had Anakin lived in the times of the ancient Sith, all that would have happened was Revan would have seduced him to the darkside and then either tried to kill Anakin, or get slaughtered.
btw, Mace loses lol
