Capt.JK
Slingin' Shield since '69
Cap figured the only way to take out Ben Grimm was by using a defensive offense. He braced himself and waited for Thing to attack. Thing didn't keep him waiting for long; he slammed his huge fist into Captain America's shield. The remarkable weapon absorbed the impact, and Cap immediately countered with a nerve-strike to Ben's eyes. He stumbled back, then lunged at Cap, who easily dodged the blind hero. Thing swung wildly at Captain America with both hands, trying to lay one of his huge mitts on the Avenger. Captain America continued to dodge his clumsy attacks, keeping Ben off balance.
Finally, Thing stood and stopped swinging his fists at Captain America. He rubbed his eyes and stared at the star-spangled hero, then stared down over the cliff at the darkness beyond. Captain America read the hero's thoughts in his eyes: "This is wrong." Cap nodded his head, and stared over the edge. He looked at Grimm.
Thing charged at Cap, screaming "It's Clobberin' Time!" at the top of his lungs (but Cap still couldn't hear him). Cap timed his jump perfectly and vaulted over the Thing's head. Thing hurtled over the side, barely grabbing on to the edge at the last second. Cap grabbed his huge hand and tried to pull him up, but Ben just looked at him again with his sad, blue eyes, and mouthed "You win" to the Avenger. He loosened his fingers and hurtled into the dark.

Captain America fought on for what felt like days to him, but may have been mere moments. Union Jack, Black Panther, Archangel, Wonder Man, Giant Man, and even his own partner the Falcon, were swallowed by the darkness. Cap defeated them all. He also beat a few villains who had been chosen as well: Scorpion, Mr. Hyde, and the Blob. He hated to think what would happen if their reality had won.
As his disc began to move once again, he felt a tremor. His disc began to shudder and vibrate, and cracks began to spread across the floor. And he thought he heard...
The mutant known as Banshee turned the volume up even more. His vocal chords strained, the muscles in his neck bulged, but he was holding the Juggernaut back. The enormous powerhouse pushed hard, inching forward ever closer to the mutant known as Sean Cassidy. He didn't know how he got here, but he was damn sure gonna win this little contest. Then he'd find out who started this and break him in ha...
The darkness shattered as Banshee's mutant power tore through the barrier. Captain America felt the glass give way as he began falling into the darkness...
