Green Day have announced they have started work on around 15 songs for their next album.
Billie Joe Armstrong says that laying down tracks is still in the very early stages, however heβs happy with the way things are going.
He told Billboard: "Right now, it's that no-pressure/fun stage of just getting on a four-track and coming up with some goofy stuff. Eventually, something sort of unfolds. It's exciting. The juices are always flowing."
Billie Joe has also revealed that he's happy keep promoting material on "American Idiot" for the time being. Speaking about the album, Joe said: "I was just listening to the record today, to tell you the truth I'm really proud of this record. Because there's so much content in it, I think that's why it still has legs."
The mighty rockers plan to take their album to Australia, Russia and Cuba after the band's current American tour. Billie Joe continued: "I'd love to play Russia and Cuba -- places rock shows don't normally go. After that, we'll end up sitting around and chatting about what is going to be the next album."

If you ditch a band because it gains more fans, shit ones or not, through no fault of it's own then you're not a fan anyway.Despite the fact that American Idiot is actually the album in which their music playing is better than their previous albums, I'd say it's got a far worse backlash than it ever deserved.
To say American Idiot is for the Ex-Busted fans is stupid. You're not someone who should be picking out people taste in music.
You listen to Eminem.
Oh and I saw your little childish stab at me in your bio. Funny how everytime we face off, you get squashed, yet the time when you take little stabs is where you think I won't see.

Oh please π
I said that AE may not be quite as good as their other stuff but I happen to like it.
I listened to Eminem, haven't in a long time... I guess my tastes no longer include him, so get with the program before you start dishing out unvalidated insults. Although why this is even relevant to a discussion about Greenday I can't fathom.
You saw my little stab in my profile? Darling, that miniscule dig at you is the introduction to an entire spiel about how awful I am, made by you, so step the f*ck off, if you don't mind.
But I do agree with the fact that AE got more shit than it deserves, people can't appreciate it when their fave bands make something which is not the norm in comparison to their usual stuff, but I think it shows flexibility on the part of the music makers, which is never going to be a bad thing.
Honestly AC, your little vendetta against me is getting utterly tired, please go find someone else to hate, you're becoming monotonous π

It was relevant because you chose to raise issues about other peoples music tastes. You're not one to talk, is all I'm saying.

Ooh, well aren't you wearing camo panties today?
I posted that because you went on one of your "I had a pick at him but don't like it when I get it back." runs. One of your infamous "I like being friends with people as long as they don't show me up in debate" tantrums. You asked what I thought of you, I told you. It happens to be true too. None of what I said was said to insult you. So you step the f*ck off before even trying with me.

It's never a bad thing. Most notably happened with Metallica. To some fans, making something they don't like is equal to making something shit. It's sad.

You see, this doesn't work with me. I actually have no vendetta with you. AT ALL. So please, don't flatter yourself. I don't think that highly of you. Second, I replied regarding your comments about me in your bio, you decided to go on one of your "Look how cool, calm and collected I am. But not really" rants. Besides, we all know that as soon as you open your mouth to me you regret what you say. Anyway, I've been done with you for a while.
Was fun sweetcheeks.

Syren, your the one who needs to "step the f*ck off".If someone wrote something like that about me in my profile i dont think i would be best pleased either, your just justifying a response by doing something like that.
People have the right to defend themselves.
Ok, are you completely ignorant? Go and read my profile... read what AC said. Then read what I said. It's utterly justified, nothing to do with you and over with.
AC, I understand. Ok? I really don't want enemies, seriously. I'm not refraining from commenting on everything you just said through fear of how you might retaliate, I know you're capable of wiping the floor with me. With anyone on here. But I really feel like all this animosity is futile... I don't want it any more π¬ And being able to smash anyone to pieces may be a brilliant, award winning thing where you are, but from my point of view it's unfortunate. Please, I've had enough. I hold my hands up, you win, I quit, lose, whatever you want to call it. Jesus.
Me neither Lana. I've always liked Green Day. American Idiot hasn't changed my opinion of them. I still think they are a great "starting band" and to be honest, if teeny boppers want to idolise someone, I'd rather it be Green Day.
They are a great live act, and they are pop, but totally more tolerable and their universal nature is a welcome one. They make decent pop music. My youngest brother likes them too and he has recently caught the rock-bug and is listening to all my Zeppelin, Queens Of The Stone Age and Sabbath stuff. There's always a place for a band like Green Day I think, despite the fact due to the apparent trendiness of these sorts of bands, all too many are attracted to their image rather than their musical worth. That's why a bunch of inferioir pretty boy Green Day wannabes have rode their coat-tales to success.
It's like when Metallica made St Anger. Sure, I thought it was a bit crap, but I still love Metallica.
