American Idiot was a good album. I like it, quite a bit. I've liked Green Day since Dookie, and I didn't stop liking them because they suddenly were the new "in thing" and have millions of teenybopper fans.

I'm gonna have to agree with you here ๐Ÿ˜Ž

AC ~ Thanks โœ…

Lana ~ I agree totally! It's quite shallow to say that although you (not directed at anyone in particular) 'love' a band, they made a crap album (by your standards) and now you feel you are losing your passion for said band ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Red ~ Excellent... at least you can see things objectively rather than just stating your personal opinion without validation ๐Ÿ‘†

Me neither Lana. I've always liked Green Day. American Idiot hasn't changed my opinion of them. I still think they are a great "starting band" and to be honest, if teeny boppers want to idolise someone, I'd rather it be Green Day.

Never thought of it that way. So maybe this is a good thing. I just get irritated when people like GD and Good Charlotte type bands at the same time. GD gets associated with these shit bands, which is unfair to GD and true GD fans alike. However, I see your point since GD became my favorite band in mid-elementary school. So maybe there is hope since I have loved GD ever since (about 10 years) but my musical taste overall has vastly grown up away from anything that tries to pretend to be Green Day.

For example, Nine Inch Nails aren't now shit because Trent made a shit album.

They are actually shit and Trent is a sellout. That's why I don't like them/him anymore.

Green Day didn't do that. They just became more popular. I wouldn't class them as Pop, though they've always had Pop sensibilities.

Isn't that what 'pop' originally stood for? Popular?

Originally, but it almost took on a new meaning. In that case 50 Cent and all the other rap crap is pop. Pop to me is almost a higher spirited type of music that is aimed towards a large crowd (although maybe not takin in by the crowd). Blink 182, Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears are probably my biggest examples.

โœ… Gotcha.

That's what I've always thought of pop music as myself.

Gay originally meant happy.

Times change primary meanings. Pop is now pretty much a genre.

Same thing could be said about Gay. Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Razorlight, My Chemical Romance. They're all bummers.

God, I keep finding myself singing to My Chemical Romance, I hate them, and yet I cant get it out of my head, HELP ME!

Here's what you do. First go to the kitchen and pour yourself a large cup of milk. Then microwave it for about 30 seconds to a minute. When you're done with that, place your head on the table and smash it with a brick. That should do the trick. ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ˜† I love their song "Time of your Life"

Please, I beg you, refer to it as "Good Riddance".

I was a long time supporter and loyal fan of green day. I even though that warning was their best album. While most fans disregaurd it as shit. I cant forgive greenday for their recent album American idiot. I listen to music to get away from the real god damn world, or to find a voice that expresses my emotions. I respect them for their political bashing, but i truly believe it is a god damn gimmick. Nearly every damn song on that album has a refference to bush or America. Coorperate bashing doesnt work with punk pop guitar licks, i'm sorry. Your pissed off, but your whining. Like manno said, Rage did it the best. If your truly pissed off and offended, then be pissed off and offended. Dont sugar coat your lyrics for people, and dont whine. Screw greenday and their political gimmicks.

So let me get this striaght your going to abandon a band youve liked for years just because you dont agree with one of their albums? Soon as they come out with a one you prefere you'll love them again... thats just to sad for words.
