Superman vs. Shazam! ( Captain Marvel)

Started by cdtm59 pages

Superman hits harder than cap's zeus amped punches and is actually able to KTFO Dreadnaught. Before somebody asks that force-field was there so that Psi-phon doesn't dampen his powers again.

Conclusion? Superman wins 6-7/10. [/B][/QUOTE]

There's context, though.

For one, Clark didn't even have his powers when he finished Dreadnaut.

He's the one that called in the JLA, knowing they'd be fed by Psi Phon into Dreadnaut. He was counting on it.

Basically, he gambled Psi Phon couldn't help but feed powers to Dreadnaut to duplcate, and gambled on shorting them out.

That's how it was in their original pc show down. Cap had Superman dead to rights, thanks to the magic weakness, and the writers actually had Shazam tell Billy at the last minute to throw the fight. 🙂

Cap's an underrated fighter, too. He's held the advantage on Adam in their canon mini, and in Black Reign before Adam's telepath forced their transformation.

👆

Both of them are underrated fighters. But Captain Marvel strikes me as being less used to cutting loose than Superman.

No context there. Superman used that force-field to stop Psi-phon from dampening his powers again as he guessed how he was mentally repressing his powers. I said that in my initial post.

You're talking out of your ass as usual. Cap never had superman dead to rights. Superman actually shrugged off his shazam bolt.

Not in their original pre crisis fight, he didn't.

And he certainly didn't shrug off the lightning in Kingdom Come and the second Eclipso fight (He endured it, but it was clearly hurting him), so no idea which fight you're referencing.

What were you saying about talking out of your ass?

Superman never anything about the force field being able to block tp, nor about regaining his powers.

That was to your original pre crisis fight in JLA 137 where a red kryptonite affected superman was brought out of madness by shazam bolt.

He did. Also Dreadnaught wasn't shorted out.

Here's the explanation of the force field:

Here's Superman being completely powerless:

Here's Billy beating the shit out of Dreadnaught with Superman, Aquaman, and MM's strength, as well as Psi being in severe pain:

And here's Superman saying that Dreadnaught was overloaded:

Basically, the feat wasn't Superman's in the slightest. Even if Dread wasn't overloaded, which he was.

It also stands to reason that he overloaded right after Cap was done, which is when he started draining Cap.

JLA 137 wasn't really fight, though. I meant their big brawl in "All New Collectors Edition C-58".

And Billy explained Shazam did something to the magic lightning, so that it could reverse the Red K.

@cdtm and abhi: It's really difficult reading your discussion. Could someone clarify which one of you botched the quote function, so I don't keep getting confused as to who's saying what?

The last scan shows superman flying. So he has his powers back. Now why does he need the FF? Was it to prevent the little alien from shutting off his powers again?

That was superman's guess, but as you can see from the alien's explanation, he was wrong. They weren't force feeding the dreadnaught the powers, As the little PP explained, he was shutting down the powers of the superheros, and the dreadnaught was duplicating them thereby creating the illusion that he was stealing their powers. Since superman thought the powers were getting stolen, he wanted to overload dreadnaught but that was never the case.

So basically since the Dreadnaught wasn't being forcefed powers, he couldn't be overloaded. When the heros lost their powers, they showed them in a moment of losing their powers and each one specifically mentioned that their powers were gone. No such thing for the dreadnaught because he never lost his powers.

Abhi was right, superman defeated dreadnaught with the powers of Superman, Captain Marvel, J'onn, Aquaman and Ralph.

By the way I guess there are a lot of premees here. LOL

Adventures of Superman 440, and 442 if anyone else wants to check it out.

Although I posted every relevant page from 440.

^^ I'll check it out, thanks for referencing the comic book #

Those particular scans are from Adventures of Superman #440, two issues before #442.
