and about the oscars I fell asleep bout the time winslet got hers ...did arnold ever make an appearance...father in law and I were waiting to see if he did...appears he may in some way be in terminator 4????

Slumdog won 'em all...

yeah mean, i was rooten for Danny B, bcuz i watch a lot of his movies.

but about 30min through the Oscars i didnt even need to hope he would win best director bcuz i already knew thatw as going to happen.

it's real awesome that he's getting a lot of buzz, bcuz he makes really good movies (aside from 28 Days/Weeks Later).

He only did 28 Days Later. And I liked it. He shot it all on a small videocamera, mini DV.

The Beach, now that's a movie that sucks balls the size of Mars.

Really? How did he get it to look so good?

i never saw the Beach, and probably wont ever. I've been wanting to see Sunshine, but i've heard 'mehh' reviews on it.

28 Days Later was a okay film, but i'm not a zombie movie person. Danny's lower budget movie have always applealed to me more bcuz they capture the emotions and feelings more affectively.

him and Ewan McG need to collaborate again. since Danny had a hand on how Ewan's career has progressed in the beginning.

HD cam + color editing. lol

No no... it wasn't HD. That wasn't around in such cameras then. He used a Canon XL1. Quitre a famous camera at the time, I filmed with it, it was great. You can see it though. But Mr. Boyle didn't use the standard lenses of course, he mounted huge film lenses on the camera. A good lens after all, makes all the difference. But it still doesn't look like film.

And yes, Jen is right, there's an amount of color grading involved as well. Still... quite an achievement.

When did the hand held HD cams come out? I just recently saw on at a store one day. it was weird being able to touch an HD camera bcuz they usually lock them behind glass.

reason why i thoguht it was HD was bcuz it was widescreen and thinking on the 16:9. didnt know regual camera could fit those dementions. im just leanring all that jazz in my DigitalVideo class.

i liked the editing in the movie withteh color, and how they sped up certain fight scenes, and how they did a slpit second repeat of a person's action on striking/killing soemthing.

this will be mine one day.

dont know what i'd do with it, bcuz it'd take me years to learn how to operate it properly... and hold it.

Ill buy it for you ...when I win the lottery..lol..or when queeq starts paying me to drink

A lot of today's crappy DV tape cameras that say they support 16:9 mode just take full screen and throw cheap black bars on the top and bottom, and isn't true HD resolution.

Nice, so it wasn't a home video type recorder I had in mind.

ISn't that the EX1? Well, "some day" it's gonna be outdated. That's a nice camera though.

And 16:9 has nothing to do with HD. 16:9 is the screen format. It exists in SD as well. HD says something about the resolution.. i.e. the number of screen lines. HD just has many more than SD.

And HD is 16:9 because that is the common standard by now.
