No no... it wasn't HD. That wasn't around in such cameras then. He used a Canon XL1. Quitre a famous camera at the time, I filmed with it, it was great. You can see it though. But Mr. Boyle didn't use the standard lenses of course, he mounted huge film lenses on the camera. A good lens after all, makes all the difference. But it still doesn't look like film.And yes, Jen is right, there's an amount of color grading involved as well. Still... quite an achievement.
