Euhm… really?
I very much like Alexandre Desplat's soundtracks fro Wes Anderson. I think they are on the upside of soundtracks these days.
And most soundtracks made for Ridley Scott (Hans Zimmer only seems to excel when he composed for him, but Streitenfeld and Pemberton are doing quite well I think).
Then there's Carter Burwell. And I like Thomas Newman, although he tends to be a little repetitive these days.
To best honest, I wasn't thrilled with the ROTS score. Aside from the Order 66 theme, and "Anakin vs Obi-Wan" a lot of the soundtrack felt a little cartoonish for me. I didn't like the General Grievous music one bit.
Clones & Menace both had great soundtracks though, but ROTS felt a bit short in my opinion.
I will always love John Williams, but a part of me was hoping for some fresh blood for the Episode 7 soundtrack.
Yeah, seems that way.
As a big soundtrack buff, nothing would annoy me more than when there was a piece of music I loved from the movie, then was nowhere to be found on the soundtrack.
TPM & AOTC had so much music not featured in the soundtrack I was pretty ticked. Thank god for the TPM EU. The AOTC full score is actually on YouTube, and it's pretty good too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-ecgureI2w
When you listen to it, you forget just how much was left out of the soundtrack release.
I don't know if a full one was released for ROTS, without sound fx at least, but I wouldn't care as much about that one anyway. I liked the movie, just wanted something a bit more from the music.
