CORN!!!

Yes, it is I. I thought it was time to come back and celebrate the new films, but I see there is none commencing. This will not do. We need a forum.

I'm starting to get a little hyped for Episode 7, but I don't think it will really hit until we start seeing on set photos with everyone in their wardrobes.

That, and it's still such a long ways off.

The movie I'm most excited for right now is Dumb and Dumber To.

Shooting started. We may get some leaks soon.

Nice! Next thing to get hyped about is hearing some snippets of the soundtrack.

I'm a big movie score buff. I probably own more soundtracks than I do movies.

I have a lot too, I used to collect them and acquired a lot more in the last ten years in the tv making business. I lost count though. I have so many purely digital, that I have no clue what I have more: soundtracks or movies. Might be a draw…

Same here.

I'm sort of mixed on the direction a lot of movie scores are headed in right now.

I feel like it's been quite a few years since I've really been wowed by anything, theme wise.

I'll just put this out there:

The Man of Steel soundtrack kind of wowed me.

Euhm… really?

I very much like Alexandre Desplat's soundtracks fro Wes Anderson. I think they are on the upside of soundtracks these days.
And most soundtracks made for Ridley Scott (Hans Zimmer only seems to excel when he composed for him, but Streitenfeld and Pemberton are doing quite well I think).

Then there's Carter Burwell. And I like Thomas Newman, although he tends to be a little repetitive these days.

It will be interesting to see what JW does with the next score. Aside from creating new pieces, it's obvious he'll revisit some of the classic themes from the original trilogy. I'd love to hear atleast an echo of Han & Leia's theme return somewhere. That to me is quintessentially Star Wars.

We'll see…

To best honest, I wasn't thrilled with the ROTS score. Aside from the Order 66 theme, and "Anakin vs Obi-Wan" a lot of the soundtrack felt a little cartoonish for me. I didn't like the General Grievous music one bit.

Clones & Menace both had great soundtracks though, but ROTS felt a bit short in my opinion.

I will always love John Williams, but a part of me was hoping for some fresh blood for the Episode 7 soundtrack.

Me too.

I didn't like most of the PT score. Across the Stars was very nice and a few other themes.

All in all I think I was most charmed with the TPM Ultimate Edition. That felt like something that was a whole, like a symphony that worked…

You took the words right out of my mouth there....agreed 100 percent about the TPM ultimate edition. That's my absolute favorite from the PT.

Weird isn't it? On the other hand, the 'regular' releases of the soundtracks are so-so… It seems to have something to do with the way Lucas cut it in the movies, the music became a bit haphazard or something… cut to fit… not to move.

Yeah, seems that way.

As a big soundtrack buff, nothing would annoy me more than when there was a piece of music I loved from the movie, then was nowhere to be found on the soundtrack.

TPM & AOTC had so much music not featured in the soundtrack I was pretty ticked. Thank god for the TPM EU. The AOTC full score is actually on YouTube, and it's pretty good too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-ecgureI2w

When you listen to it, you forget just how much was left out of the soundtrack release.

I don't know if a full one was released for ROTS, without sound fx at least, but I wouldn't care as much about that one anyway. I liked the movie, just wanted something a bit more from the music.

I know the feeling.

But maybe some day. Remember it took a long time to get the full soundtracks to the OT as well. And they had some memorable tracks left out of the original releases… like the wonderful final fight music from ROTJ.

So has anybody been paying attention to any Episode VII rumors yet? I have no clue.

Not much is know. Some shots from the set in Abu Dabi and Harrison Ford hurt his foot and is out for 8 weeks.
