Dawn of the Dead Discussion

My reasoning about the whole running zombies is this...

Back in the 1970's the thought of the dead rising from the grave to feed on the flesh of the living was enough to scare the shit out of people.

But, nowadays all the violence we see on tv everyday has cast an imunity over our minds. The regular things that would have scared us silly thirty years ago don't quite have the same effect.

So in this remake of a great classic they had to pull something out of their asses to scare us. I believe that the screen writers for the remake of Dawn of the Dead payed a little too much attention to 28 Days Later in which the "infected" could run. So seeing in screen tests (The idea that the zombies or infected could run) that the audience jumped at the parts where the heros were being chased around by fast moving enemies I'm sure played a big part in their quest to scare moviegoers.

I mean would you really have been scared in Dawn of the Dead if the zombies couldn't run? I know that I wouldn't, the thought of the massive army of zombies that are capable of running were outside a mall I took refuge in....I would have shit my pants!!

Yes, the American need for speed

"come on everybody get down with the sickness" that was hilarious

What i thought of Dawn (2004)

I watched it 3 times, so i must have liked it, i knew it would be good as paul anderson 😠 isn`t anywhere near it, so it had a damn good chance of being good.

Some compare it to the original, well i dont think it should be compared to it at all, it`s totally different to the original in many ways.
It`s an ok storyline to it, well you dont need a Godfather style of story not for this kind of movie anyway.

The characters blended well together considering the circumstances they were in, just like we would have acted in their shoes.
None of the characters annoyed me in the movie they were all ok in their own ways i guess.

Luda 9.5/10.
Nicole 10/10.
Anna 9.5/10.
The Blonde Chick 9/10.

Spoiler:

Luda as a zombie eek! , she looked creepy didn`t she.
Spoiler:

My only complaint`s about it were: It didn`t last long, i wish it could have lasted another hour or so at least 🙁. that and Andy getting severely under-used and blammed into oblivion as well by his pal Kenneth 🙁.
Check out my avatar, it`s Andy!!!!!, cool or what man 🙂.

It`s a damn good zombie movie, one of the best zombie movies, not as good as dawn 78 version but then what zombie movie is.
It can and does stand on it`s own this movie because it`s not a rip off of the original, the guys who did it well what can i say ?,
They have talent unlike some i could mention.

I for one cant wait for their next zombie movie 🙂.

rating for this movie 9.5/10.

HEY DAWN OF THE DEAD WAS A VERY GOOD MOVIE SCARY AND GOOD AND GORY I LOVE GORY MOVIES!!! BUT YEAH I THINK IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER..... THE IMPROVMENTS WERE THAT INSTEAD OF SLOW A** WALKING ZOMBIES WE HAVE MUCH MORE FASTER ONES THIS TIME... SO THE DUMB A** SURVIVERS WONT HAVE TIME!!!!

Gory in an innappropriate sense (like must look away from the screen) or able to still watch and not puke up my popcorn?

It wasn`t that gory thats for sure, violent ? yes but not too gory as it`s from a mainstream company not independent, sadly, but it was still a great movie 🙂.

The best mainstream zombie movie in a LONG time.

The first 8 minutes... the rest of the film didn't have the same impact as the first 8 minutes, with the panic and dis-belief. But still enjoyed it.

sounds great..... i hate in horror movies when the entrails are identifiable organs.... gross 🙁

Day of the Dead
United Kingdom
BBC2 11:50pm, Tuesday 18th May

From horror maestro Goerge A Romero comes the final film in his Dead Trilogy. With the earth conquered by zombies, a small group of scientists and military personnel are froced to hide out in a underground bunker in Florida. When the military discover that there men have been used in the scientists experiments, they attempt to banish the unethical group, but soon find there base under attack from the undead.
(18, 1985) Rated, five stars

Remakes are never as good? Ah, then this may be the exception to the rule. I've seen this movie four times, and I love Romero's zombie stuff. This movie is as good as the original, and it even manages to capture that all-important "b-grade" movie feel.
I think there's even a guy from the first movie in this one, if memory serves, a character who in this movie is called "Frank". I could be wrong, but seeing his face really rang a bell for me.
The zombies are not smart, but super-stealthy, and some of the method for killing and/or otherwise felling them were very clever and certainly worth mention. Even the music was great in this one, and I still find myself singing that song from the movie--it's also done by the band disturbed. Great song, great flick. If you haven't seen it yet, get out there.

I beg to disagree. Because:
1) IMO, The mere act of running and walking has nothing to do with our desensitized minds. I think a running zombie would have the same effect in scaring people then, as it is now.
2) I do think walking zombies are creepier and is more supenseful. Because you let your guard down too much and leads to your death by your own cockiness.
3) When confronted with fast zombies, you get a sudden adrenaline rush that helps you get away. It also keeps your mind away from being scared because you have no time to think. But when confronted with slow moving zombies in a dead end hallway, you simply pee your pants just looking at them slowly inching their way towards you.
4) Besides, why do you think killers and monsters in movies always walk when they see their prey? It's scarier that way, that's why.

Anyway, that's what I think.

yet somehow, even though the killer is walking and the victim is running, the killer always catches up....

....like Pepe Le Pew from Looney Tunes!!
"Where are you pigeon? I am looking everywhere to find you.." 🙂

DOTD original was better
Romero was a horror vetran
With Day of the Dead and Night Of The Living Dead to his name also

Not Too good on the titles was he?
BUt the new one has probably the worst ending of a horror film ever
And there have been some stinkers in the horror world

Hahahaha! Exactly! 😂

DarkSeed and F1 say it all for me. Both represent my feelings for this film. The first 8 minutes of the film definitely was outstanding to. Dawn of the Dead remake is one of my favorites. Just today i got a bit from Universal on the DVD and I think that it will be very cool. Especially with 25 more minutes 🙂

25 more minutes? wow!

Just an update. "Dawn of the Dead" (2004) DVD will be out on 10/5.

that seems such a long time to wait...sigh!
