I am fairly sure there are other threads of this nature, so don't be shocked if it gets merged. Anywho, the question.

I feel, based on probability and such that there is likely other life out there. Whether it is intelligent life is a whole other galactic kettle of fish. However if one agrees with the origins of life on earth (the scientific one, not the religious one) then I think it is likely.

So yes, I think it a good chance that non-earth life exists somewhere. No, I don't think our governments probably are hiding their existence, yes, I think it is likely some of the bits of space debris discovered does include trace remains of microscopic life (thus non-terrain life, though not intelligent life)

If there are intelligence/sentience out there I don't think it would be any more likely to fall in a "their evil" category then humanity. I would imagine they might be just as susceptible to good, bad and in between as we are. And even then it would likely come down to a question of perception. Maybe certain of their practices would seem evil to us, but to them be good.

And the fact it is an estimate in no way detracts from the likelyhood of it being correct. Everything, except certain Biblical suggestions, seems to support the estimate and fit in with that age.

If extra terrestrials are so advanced then why would they need spacecraft? Surely if you're advanced enough to develop inter stellar spacecraft then you're advanced enough to develop a kinda "teleportation thingy" they could just "materialise" on whichever planet they wanted to and it's for this reason that I think all UFO sightings are complete and utter crap.

And you'd think that just because humans are smart enough to build a bomb capable of ending all life within a city that we would be able to cure the common cold.

I don't think having space travel would automatically equal a species somehow developing some sort of matter transportation device.
