seriously though, i dont think people really pledge their allegience when saying it, but rather just recite text out of obligation.
whether or not they are patriotic, it just seems like an obligatory prayer session...and nobody seems to care about what it means, but just that everyone follows protocol and does it. i cant remember a single day where i recited those words and thought to myself "i pledge to remain loyal to my country and god...etc." i would see a body of text and feel no meaning...if that makes sense.
i dont think that even the most patriotic people study those words as they speak them. apart from goofing around, i spent many days listening to everyone else do the pledge...and it just sounded like droning.
