Tom Riddle was always "evil". J.K. Rowling has even said that he has never in his life loved someone. My guess it is because he is the true heir of Salazar Slytherin. Slytherin disliked muggles(or anything that had to do with them)quite a bit. Tom Riddle would have been a pureblood if his mother hadn't married a Muggle. No one else of his heir, but him, was like Slytherin. We obviously know that because the only person that can open the Chamber of Secrets is Slytherin's true heir. There may have been other people who had opened it way before Tom, but Tom is the only person we know about.
If you are asking why his name is Voldemort, it is because he strongly disliked his name. It was given to him by a Muggle(ahaha except maybe his middle name, Marvolo..ahaha). Anyways how he actually became Voldemort was because he lost his body. Well sort of. He was just I guess sort of a spirit. He was too weak to be his own person which is why he used other peoples' bodies. Anyways, he then makes that potion in Goblet of Fire that made him actually "human". He probably looked like a snake/demon because of Slytherin's symbol, a snake. Like the excerpt from J.K. Rowling's website, that person resembled a lion.
I think the reason Harry and Voldemort's wands share the same core is because Voldemort sort of transferred some of him into Harry. That is why Harry was also almost put into Slytherin. If Voldemort never transferred his powers to Harry, the Sorting Hat would have never given a second thought as to where to put Harry. But what strikes me as odd is why Voldemort's wand has a feather from Fawkes's tail.
Tracy, that is what I have been trying to say! The curse never bounced off Harry. Voldemort's powers were transferred to Harry, leaving Voldemort powerless and weak.
😑
There are a lot of incorrect statements in your post. 😬
No one has ever opened the chamber of secrets but Tom/Voldemort.
JKR has told us clearly "Tom IS Voldemort" (OMG how many times do I have to say this in this forum?) so please never extract any theories out of this matter. PLUS your post says
Anyways how he actually became Voldemort was because he lost his body. Well sort of. He was just I guess sort of a spirit. He was too weak to be his own person which is why he used other peoples' bodies. Anyways, he then makes that potion in Goblet of Fire that made him actually "human".
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? 😄
Mean he "became" Voldemort because he lost his body?
Mean he was not when he killed Harry's parents?
Mean he didn't has a body when he killed 'em?
Mean he can only be called 'Voldemort' if he has a body?
We canNOT challenge why Voldemort has a wand with a feather from Fawkes because obviously and logically he was the first to choose a wand, not Harry. The question is why Harry has a wand from Fawkes when Voldemort has also from the same phoenix. The simplest answer is the "Harry-Voldemort Connection" which even Dumbledore does not understand completely but JKR.
lilboredshorty... the curse rebounded.... JK said so in the Endiburg interview....
"The first question that I have never been asked?it has probably been asked in a chatroom but no one has ever asked me?is, ?Why didn?t Voldemort die?? Not, ?Why did Harry live?? but, ?Why didn?t Voldemort die?? The killing curse rebounded, so he should have died."
i think that when the curse rebounded off harry it didnt have enough power in it to kill just enough to reduce voldy to a spirit
and another possible reason is voldy said to someone somewhere in one of the books i cant remember where (gosh i hate it when people do this (the not remembering thing))that he took many steps to avoid death
The Alpha- You misunderstood me. Next time read more carefully. First of all, when did I say that Tom Riddle and Voldemort were not the same person? I did not say that once. I never said that anybody else had opened the Chamber of Secrets besides him. Yes, I did say that there might be someone else we might not know about, but I know it is most probably not true. Of course we don't actually know since there is a about a 1000 year gap between Slytherin's time and Voldemort/Tom's time. But I did not mean to make that important at all.
Second of all, if you had read my whole post you would have noticed that I said Tom changed his name to Lord Voldemort because he didn't like the name Tom Maravolo Riddle. I did not mean that he became Voldemort when he lost his body. Someone asked why his physical features changed so much. I never said all that happened before he killed Harry's parents. I know that all happened when his powers were transferred to Harry.
Lastly, Voldemort did not CHOOSE his wand, just as Harry did not choose his wand. You never choose your wand. What I was asking was how someone as evil as Voldemort could recieve a wand containing a feather from Fawkes, a creature that is so great and loyal towards Dumbledore. I know that Harry recieved his wand because of the connection him and Voldemort have.
I have read the interview before. His powers still did get transferred to Harry, so I wasn't wrong about that. Yes, he did use the steps to help himself survive, but it wasn't only that. There has to be another reason because he thought he would be able to kill Harry. He never thought about "these steps" before he tried. He had no clue that would happen. He should have died right away if the spell hit him back. There has to be another reason on why he didn't die. It can be like what pixie1 said, about it being weaker when it hit Voldemort. I think it has to do more with what the prophecy says. The steps are what he did to stay alive(I bet I have said this about 10 times in this paragraph). But there was something else that had him actually survive.
-laughs- My friend has never read the interview before and I just asked him why Dumbledore never tried to kill Voldemort. You know how J.K. Rowling said that her husband said the reason was because Dumbledore knew there were still two more books? Well my friend said(funnily enough, his name is Harry! aha His last name is Hall..)that Dumbledore knew about the contract. "What contract?" "The one about J.K. Rowling saying she would write 7 books." Was there a contract involved? I thought she just promised her fans that, but I guess you can say that was a contract..sorta...
