I'm sorry that I'm not going to websites looking at info and everything like you all. I never heard the rumor nor that she said anything about it. Sorry for getting a bit over excited, but to me it seemed to make sense.
No worries, but just so you know...JKR said that is also was not Tom Riddle....she wasn't pulling a Dobby just saying that it wasn't Voldemort and then really meaning that it was Tom Riddle
The whole Hagrid thing is good....but does anyone else feel like it is too obvious? He is the ONLY character we've heard about with a moticom of royal blood.
Did we ever discuss whether Half-Blood Prince meant Prince of the Half-Bloods (meaning it could be a pure wizard, not just a half-blood) or used as an adjective to describe him (a half wizard half something else [giant, muggle, were wolf, etc.])?
B/c maybe if it is prince of the half bloods, it could be a pure blooded wizard like a Weasley or Neville....They are all very important characters that we are already familiar with. What do you think?
What's everyone talking about? Hagrid ISN'T HALF BLOOD! He may well be a prince, I don't know, but he most definitely isn't half blood. And who said about us not hearing about any other character with royal-connections? Er, have you considered...the whole weasley family? I'm not saying any of them is the Half-Blood Prince, but; we've had many charlies, bills, and arthurs as kings. Percival was a knight of the round table who served King Arthur. Ginny's name is Ginevra, which is basicvally Guinivere, Arthur's bride who also had a crush on Lancelot. Ron means something royal, I can't remember, perhaps servant to the king. It's also similar to the french for king, ' le roi'. Molly was named by another family, not the ewasleys, so she doesnt count. So before you going thinking Hagrid is the Half Blood Prince, despite him not being Half Blood, look at the more obvious answers.

I hate to admit it, but TheSun is making a good point here.

I think the half blood they are talking about is basically Half wizard half muggle. Half blood in what they are talking about it exactly having parents who had magical powers or is magical and having a muggle parent. On the other hand, Hagrid is half wizard, half giant, a magical creature.
We don't know that for sure....In CoS we were taught that "half blood" meant half wizard/half muggle, and so that is the first thing that pops into our minds when we hear "Half-Blood Prince." But that is just b/c that is what we are conditioned to think. We don't know if JKR has something up her sleave to screw with our interpretation. So I don't think it is fair to cross half-breeds like Hagrid off the list. He has 50:50 wizard:giant blood (HALF BLOOD!). I don't think it is him anymore, but I'm not crossing him off my list of suspects!
