Realxxxxx king burger, its not like i myself believe in nothing more than just a physical predestined universe, i was just surprised by how easily people believed that thoughts could influence the physical world and was just presenting a conflicting point of view to state the fact that infact there is a lot of evidence against the theory of thoughts beeing able to change the world around you, ofcourse im not dismissing the idea completely, i mean there must be some sense to it if so many people believe in it it and are involved i the theory, i suppose a really powerful psyche really might be able to change the physical world{like true psionics for example}, but the thing is that of all the evidence i have seen of psionics, most are fake and some that may truly have the ability never really tend to ever show their results to mainstreem out in the open science and present their case infront of the whole world to see on some accepted open media or something, it neveeer happens, and even the spoon bending phenomenon{and im not saying it doesnt exist} is only being studied by really small underfunded groups of scientists who can at most reveal their somewhat vague results to some paronormal tv shows at best{the kind that are not really accepted to be completely true and are not really taken very seriously}, this is the kinda stuff because of which it is hard for me to believe when someone states the psionic thing as if it is a proven fact thas all.
Fair enough.
Though I don't see the connection between Determinism and
"psychic/telekinetic" phenomenon. Even if the world if really
as clockwork as you say, then why can't such phenomen
of the human mind also be part of this unfolding script?
Besides, you yourself implied a belief n something beyond
the physical universe (if I understood this corrctly), so why
not something beyond Man's flesh and bones as well.
I agree most "spoon-benders" are fake (a la Uri Geller), but
though such major displays of mind-over-matter may be in
fact fake, it does not dosprove the existence of smaller levels
of such powers.
As I have said in previous pages, I believe in atleast some
level of mind-to-mind influences. There are just too many
every-day experiences that we have all had often that show
its existence (like these "vibes" I refered to before, or how
some women feel/sense when their far-away children are
in distress).
Oh, and sorry about the "ego" comment. Apologies good man.
How can a person fake a spoon bending? Curious..I didn't know that.
I have to say though that the spoon bending experiments were scientifically controlled along with other mind type experiments. and many were double blind studies. In the past I would of said these things were really off the wall, done and said by fanatics and down right evil done by demons and such, really! I had grown up in a Pentecostal church and also Baptist where anything you can't explain is of the devil..
It seems science is catching up to what people have been trying to say for thousands of years. This isn't some made up thing people can do and it's not evil, it just is. It's something everyone has within themselves to some extent or another. 😄
SOme such spoon-benders seem to have no problem
performing in front of the public, but become very shy
when it comes to doing so in front of scientists.
I do believe that such feats are possible, but many of
the people who do them are just performers, like
David Copperfield for example, or David Blaine.
