right, but my point is simply that the type of yin yang balance others are refering to is not affected.
a lack of the sith does not mean that good dominates over evil,
just as the jedi are not capable of doing anything about evil that does
not involve the sith. in fact, they seem quite apathetic about such evil in ep1.
their job is to keep the peace through diplomacy, not to be the galaxy's police force.

Ah but see I dont think Anakin is a Sith any longer. He's been redeemed by Luke.
This was my take it too.
Anakin seems to have been a big old fulcrum for the force's balance to be shifted, but it seems that he had seen the error of his ways and had renounced his Sithly ways....
Also "Return of the Jedi" comments on this with its title.
The "Jedi" of the title is Anakin I believe.
There were no other Jedi to return...
Luke was never a Jedi to begin with before facing Vader, so the word "Return" wouldn't really apply to him there...
No EU assumptions of any Jedi academies following ROTJ are alluded to..
Therefore I reckon that had Anakin lived indeed a resumption of his Jediliness would've been the case IMHO....

They ARE a Galactic police force. They are sent to enforce the law. GL makes this very clear indeed. They have a diplomatic role also, but that's not the point.
GL has directly likened them to Wild West marshalls, dispensing frontier law.
Guardians of Peace and Justice. Right from the start, protecting the Galaxy was always their job. Obviously, they prefer to bring peaceful resolutions if they can, but their primary job is exactly that of a police force.

i never saw that quote (regarding 'Wild West marshalls'😉 but ill take your word for it and stand corrected on that point.
but the fact remains that evil will still exist
Alright, so my definition of 'balance' differs from Georgies. I guess I can see where he's coming from, but I don't agree...and stop saying I should go watch another movie just because I dont have my nose up Lucas' a$$. One of the best things about Star Wars is that Lucas' questionable filmmaking skill, at least in regards to writing and plot holes, makes for good forum discussion.
What in the heck are you guys talking about?! Luke was not using the dark side of the force!! And if you've watched the VI movie then you should know that when luke said I need to save you(when the death star is about to explode) and then Darth Vader says you've already have, so how in the heck if Vader lived would the balance of the force not be balanced?!! I just don't get that!!!!!!!! and luke wont die if you have read the Expanded version

Go dig up FROM STAR WARS TO JEDI...
Lucas is talking about the moment beneath the staircase, and finding that one piece of dialogue (Vader threatening to turn Leia) that would make Luke snap and finally QUOTE: "turn to the Dark Side of the Force."
....straight from the GL

i found it 🙂
I don't think the title "Return of the Jedi" was referring to Anakin at all. It was referring to what Obi-Wan and Yoda were trying to do the entire trilogy - restore the Jedi Order.
To do that, they needed the Emperor killed and they knew that Luke would have to get through Vader first and do away with him. They could care less if Anakin was brought back from the Dark Side or simply killed off - as long as Luke lived and the Emperor was dead.
I mean, look at "Revenge of the Sith"...it isn't referring to Palpatine. It's the Sith as a whole.
