quickFreeze says - <<just told a kid who started a thread that has been done before to use the search engine before starting a new thread and he got all defensive ("i'm new bleh bleh bleh"😉>>
okay. i'm that new guy.
1. i never said bleh bleh bleh - at least i don't remember saying that . . .
2. i haven't been a 'kid' for a lonnggg time
3. i usually DO try the search engine first - this time i didn't because i actually thought the mock-up was unique enough.
that said, i've read the last several pages of this thread and (barring the couple pages where a bunch of people were calling each other names and quoting south park) i learned a few things. some i liked, some i . . . question. when i first stumbled across this site i thought 'cripes, this is cool!' not to mention addictive. the site was really a lot of fun. and that IS the reason the site was set up, was it not - because discussing this type of thing is fun, it's a nice escape and you meet and chat with new people. i've been on for i guess a week or so and i've made a few threads. i think a couple were repeats because immediately upon joining i wasn't aware of the search engine.
now, a couple questions i have:
1. i asked this of quick freeze: why does it matter if a thread is repeated? when he suggested i use the search engine i was not at all defensive as he suggests. i simply said that if it HAS been done before, people simply will choose not to respond and the repeat thread will die. however, even if a thread HAS been done before, doesn't mean the repeat thread won't work. ie - the taskmaster v batman thread i started has generated some great instruction and 60 responses. the thread HAS been done before, but it didn't generate even half that many replies. why? because new people join, new opinions are gathered and new threads of discussion happen.
