Why do they choose such old peolpe to be Pope?

It's happened before (that he was read the rites), it doesn't necessarily mean he's about to keel over and die.

he had a bad turn today....so thats why they read them to him...it was on the news.

because it takes a lifetime to work your way up through the system at the vatacan. by the time you get to be pope you are older than dirt.

i feel bad about all this, but he is pretty damn old so its not like some huge tragedy. i just hope that when he goes, he goes peacefully and that he will have a worthy replacement. we really need a progressive pope to set a new mark. not that JPII wasnt progressive for his time, but those times are over.

He hasn't been looking so good lately. I did not hear that they read him his last rites...Oh, I almost said read him his rites...Boy that's bizarre.

Depends on how you define a full life.

We need to have a new pope who will scrap al the pathetic rules that the catholic church imposes. How for example can a pope or a priest lecture on family values when they are not allowed a family of their own? What do they know about normal matters that affect normal families? Maybe we'll get a pope who will refuse to shelter paedophile priests or who will recognise the horrors of the holocaust.

it ill be a sad day when the pope finally does pass away because he is such an inspirational figure in a society full of violence,for someone to be able to maintain their faith with everything we see nowdays is such a great gift,i have had trouble keeping my faith and im getting back on track finally after learning their is still decent people in the world and i will feel terrible when the pope does pass away.

Ah poor guy. I may not believe anything he believes in, but I respect him.

I really respect what he did to end communism in Eastern Europe but as far as his stance on almost every social position, I couldn't disagree more.

i may not have faith in the same religion o.O but i still feel sorry for the guy, he could hardly talk or anything and it must have been hard keeping it up all this time and i respect and kind like the idea of his title dies with him and such, he was born in his faith and whent to the highest kinda position, and then it only ends when he does. its kinda, nice. i dunno 😖 its kinda sweet. meh i dunno if thats all correct but thats what i heard. im not in that religion area so meh i dunno. hes done good for his religion thats all i gotta say really, he followed his dream and got it in the end.

I dont really follow the popes position on religious and social issues but he seemed like one of the better popes and one that was really down to earth and nice, but from what I have heard i dont think he will make it through the month. 🙁

They don't choose old people 🙄 they age, he's been the pope for 26 years now......
I respect what he's done to make amends for past mistakes of the church, I respect him overall, it'll be a sad day when he dies.

popes dont usually live very long. because they are old. JP11 was pushing 60 when he became pope.

I hope that the blessings remain with Pope John Paul. I wish him better health and hope that God heals him.
