I'd go for that in a heartbeat.
I mean, I tried everything I could think of to get out of becoming a jedi in the original KOTOR, but I finally had to become a crappy jedi. 😠
In KOTOR II, I got the idea to just say "screw my lightsaber" and only ever used it once to get past a forcefield (and let me just say that Mandalorian disruptors ROCKED!), but it still just wasn't the same, you know?
So yeah, it'd be kinda nice if there were an option for those of us who don't want to be jedi. It would only take including an option to "choose" and adding alternate dialogue post-decision based on whether you chose to become one or not.
Not that I ever expect to see it. Oh well. *sigh*
That's why I don't think I'll be getting KOTOR 3. I just can't stomach playing a jedi a third time. If there's no non-jedi option, I'm giving it a pass.

Everytime it is mentioned you and the Exile are the same, play the game and listen to what everybody says. Listen carefully, it pretty much points itself out. They won't go as far as actually saying it, but they do get close. Besides you pick up his mask and you regain control of the force. And Visas for the first time ever says she sees a man when she looks at you after you kill Nihilus. Before that she doesn't know what she sees.
No, that's because Nihilus was NOT the same as the Exile! Nihilus fed off the force, while the Exile fed off of others. When Darth Nihilus was destroyed the force was significantly more powerful in your party members, Visas especially.
It's turn based, but the turns play out in real time, and as you can leave orders in advance there is no need for the action ever to pause.
But yes, it is effectively turn based. It is an RP game and totally unsuited to genuine real-time action. Although the interface is different, the structure of the combat system is the same as that used in Baldur's Gate, the origin of all these Bioware games.
why would you complain about having to be a jedi(or sith) in knights of the old republic. if you arent a jedi then it takes away the whole point of the game KNIGHTS of the old republic. it is obviously referring to JEDI knights. no one other than jedi are ever referred to as knights in the star wars universe. if you dont want to play as a jedi why play a star wars game about jedi.
