No way it's not even in the same league or overratedness of games like World of Warcraft (the popularity for that is absolutely ridiculous, and a little retarded) or the Halo series. It might be slightly overrated, but it still possesses probably the greatest storyline to ever appear in a jrpg. What ruins most of the Final Fantasys though is the command based gameplay, which is why the Star Ocean and Tales series of jrpgs (action based rpgs) are imo greater. Typically amazing storyline experience that you get from pretty much any jrpg, as well as pretty amazing battle based gameplay (Star Ocean Till The End of Times is by far the best to appear in any jrpg).

WOW is retarted and full of ****, so yeah it is also pretty much overrated but personally i preferred ffx over vii.

Have you tried FFXII though? Its battle system is completely different from the other final fantasies.

Anyways its your opinion, but i do agree jrpg's are better than most except for some like fallout 3(its my personal opinion).

Yeah, the battle gameplay for XII was pretty good, I like how it was all in real time and you encountered enemies on the main map itself, but the gameplay was still command based right? Like you still had to go to a menu and select "attack" or "steal" etc. didn't you? Can't remember too well, but yeah that's why I love the Tales and Star Ocean games, it all takes place in real time, and you actually directly perform attacks with the controller, rather than selecting a command off a menu.

X was pretty good, but I personally preferred the storyline and characters from VII and IX, and didn't really appreciate the gameplay too much, I just relied on my aeons lol, until the final battle where I literally couldn't actually beat it so I just checked out the ending on youtube and stopped playing it.

But yeah if you've got the US edition of the 360 you should definitely check out Tales of Vesperia. It's definitely the best jrpg to come out recently, its gameplay is as good as it gets for an rpg, the graphics are probably some of the best I've ever seen in a game (with a few exceptions), it's got an amazing storyline and some really nice characters, and unlike most jrpgs, relatively good english speaking voice acting, which is pretty rare for the genre.

That can be debated, hence the possiblity of a seperate thread.

if you want to argue about other games take it to the video game section, folks.

No problem, Atticus. 🙂

Anyways, I think the possibility that they might make a KOTORIII game means that this should stay it's own thread, the TOR thread be made a separate entity.

They didn't do realistic models because they didn't want to pay for them.

I respect quality, which is something KOTOR doesn't have.
KOTard...brilliant. (and probably not original.)

By God you are naive to think LucasFilm didn't want to pay for anything. They've got enough money, don't you worry about that.

As for what you consider "quality", well I'll just not touch that...

As much as I disagree with you, you are entitled to your own opinion. I guess sometimes someone just has to hate something, no matter how popular and successful it may be. Hell, the way you feel about KotOR is nothing compared to how much I hate everything Zahn....

At least Zahn didn't make terrible sequels and completed his trilogy... oops.

yeah, because popularity and success means value and quality...

Seriously, you're in denial someone doesn't like your game and you have to try and construct irrational reasons why it is so lol.

Too cute.

Yep.

Zahn completed his sequels because frankly he has nothing else to do, while at the same time BioWare has been busy working on; Sonic Chronicles, Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Dragon Age and more. When you have only one thing on your plate than Im sure you can spend all the time that you have on that one thing.

Well, actually in a way it does. Sucess is usually directly influenced by the quality of that which is sucessful. With this being so, most things of high quality end up to be sucessful, and that of low ends up not being sucessful.

They better come out with that Jade Empire sequel soon.

Indeed. The first one had the most ridiculously awesome controls of any RPG. Ever.

Except Mass Effect, right?

I've never played it. Sad, huh?

Yes. Very.

Spoiler:
Dumbledore dies.

The storyline is made of pure win, but the ending (the very last scene, mostly) was the worst thing I've ever seen. They didn't leave much room for a sequel, so the main character is just like-

I've gotta go start the plotline for a sequel, even though everything has been resolved already.

It made me mad.

I've actually (uncharacteristically) managed not to spoil the ending, despite the game being releases well over a year ago. Should I just go YouTube it?

Probably not. The final confrontation is pretty BA (as long as you don't cheat with +500% damage ammo). The only bad part is the post-battle politics. I'd wait until after you play the game- I made it until just two weeks ago without spoiling it. (I just beat it.)

Screw it. I'll spoil this so I don't have to spoil GTA 4, which I'm about to beat anyway, and then I'll wait for Arkham Asylum and Mass Effect 2 to redeem my spoilage.

When will mass effect 2 come out? I so loved the first game.
