🙂 Exactly! that is what I was trying to get to(I think), thx. I'm tired and I have no idea what I'm saying now

Edit: whoever thinks everyone isn't equal, is exactly like my cousin 😛

Well, to put it bluntly: No, we're not equal. Remove that from your mind and if you truly believe it, find the biggest fish you can and fornicate yourself with it.

Unfortunately, a child born in a third world country would be at an immediate disadvantage to one born in a more developed one. But at the moment of birth, I guess they would be equal...

Birth defections?

No child is ever born completely equal.

God, AC, everyone is just trying to point out that every child is born with equal potential, be it spiritually, mentally or emotionally. I believe that it's the environment we're born into that segregates us.

The environment is what really screws you over....

You betcha ✅ Don't you just love the fact that those we are supposed to look up to, to idolise, are the very ones who have given us the screwy environment 🙄

There are some do-gooders out there, but they're rare.... and most only wish to exploit us in some way 🙁

Yeah I know, and I'm pointing out that they're not.

Environment is the influence.

Brains are what allow us to learn and surpass.

Precisely.

That's why (slightly off topic, forgive me) I believe in supporting musicians by buying the albums and not downloading. Because in a world where our "leaders" are screwing us over and robbing us, we shouldn't do it to the artists actually trying to make a difference.

But it's quicker and cheaper to download dontgetit

Uh-oh, I'm lost to the exploitation.

Yeah but it's respectful and decent to not you know, rip the bands off who are putting effort into creating art that enhances your life.

Unless to you, music is just something you listen to. Music is my life, I don't believe in ripping my bands off.

But that's for another thread.

AC, would you agree with downloading their work, then purchasing at a later date?

I use Itunes.

Touchy area.

I don't personally do that, I prefer to wait to hear the album as it was intended to be heard by the artist. They are doing me the honour of letting me be a part of their work by indulging it so I take it upon myself to show them respect in return. However if you buy it after downloading, then fine. I just don't see the point, saps all the fun out of putting the CD in for the first time and hearing new music.

That's all good if you can afford it, but personally I can't usually afford to buy more than one cd per week. If downloading wasn't an option, I'd just have to go without. But since I can get it for free, I do.

I will usually be quicker to buy albums from people on independent labels before I'd buy one from a major band, because I think the bands see more of the money on independent labels. For a normal mainstream label I think the rate is somewhere around 52 cents per track of each album sold.

Topic.

Sorry.

It's not about how much of the money they see. If everyone has that mentality and continue to download, bands are gonna go broke and not be able to tour.

If you plan to buy the albums at some point, it's fine. If not, I have an extreme distaste for that. I just have too much respect for artists to rob them.

EDIT: For the record, I did say I didn't want to get off topic. Just answering questions.

-AC

Point is, your respect for these bands isn't at all appreciated by them, nor is it appreciated by those of us who, as Afro said, can't afford to buy CDs constantly and now feel cheap and nasty just because you think it's wrong.
