CD's are too expensive. Usually one or three songs are good and the rest of the album sucks. That's why I just purchase or download the songs individually.
So.. just to get back to topic: I would have to say that when it comes to common sense guys are smarter from my experience. Not always, but I think the average guy probably has more common sense than the average girl. When it comes to booksmarts I notice a lot of girls I know do well on tests and stuff more than guys I know. That's just what I've noticed personally, not saying it's some universal law or anything.

I feel the same way. I've made the same observations.

Point is, your respect for these bands isn't at all appreciated by them, nor is it appreciated by those of us who, as Afro said, can't afford to buy CDs constantly and now feel cheap and nasty just because you think it's wrong.
Pardon? The bands I like don't appreciate the respect given to them by their fans? Let's bear in mind that you listen to Eminem and Drum N Bass, I listen to bands like Tool. Your definition of "artist" in music is alot different than mine. Yes, they appreciate the respect they get because they respect their fans as people, not as fans.

If it's worth your time to download the whole album, buy the damn thing. There's no excuse for ignorance. If you like the single, buy the one single, download the ONE single. Don't download the entire album, that's not good.

Clearly not listening to anyone good. Or maybe you guys just don't value music like me and alot of others on this board. To each their own but don't disrespect artists just because you're lazy or uninterested.

That's cool though, you buy singles... I do the same. I'll generally buy an album when the majority of songs are worth listening to. But downloading involves less effort and less expenditure, yet the tunage is just as good. Where's the problem here?
What sheer ignorance. Bands aren't doing volunteer work you know, you realise that right?
It's not a matter of the "tunage" being just as good, because it's not. It's a matter of showing some respect to the people who are sharing music with you by paying for it, not scumming it off the internet like a parasite. Your boyfriend is in music so you said, supposing he was taking a while to put together a piece of music, an album, that he put his heart and soul into and that he needed to be supported with. I seriously doubt you'd be all for copping it off the net then.

You have a point but I don't think you have the right to group your taste into the 'artist' category and mine elsewhere on the basis that you listen to 'Tool'. Give me a list of bands of a similar genre and you'll probably find that I listen to and appreciate more than half of them, please don't generalise 😬

I think that we are going to continue to disagree simply because I don't have the same level of passion for (or money to afford) commercial music that you so obviously do. I own a few albums, most bought for me, but the albums I have downloaded have mostly been ones I desperately wanted but couldn't afford. As for my boyf and his connection to music, it's completely different. It's underground, it's not publicised the same way, promoted the same way or even listened to by the same people. The area in which he 'works' is basically live, and his circle of friends burn CDs for promotion. Free CDs.
Edit: Sorry BF 🥷

I agree.
"Who is more intelligent? Man or Woman"
I dunno. This is a hard question to answer. I think it's obvious that there are above average people on both sides of the sexual divide. However, the girls have Jackie, and that alone ruins the curve. So, I'm gonna go with da mens.
Sorry BF.

Please don't generalise? Then please don't take it upon yourself to become the spokesperson for all the bands I listen to. I never based it on the fact that I listen to Tool, I based it on the fact that you chose to speak for the bands I like when your taste includes one of the biggest corporate prostitutes there is. I seriously doubt you "appreciate" the bands I'm into in the way I do. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, just not likely is all.

I hardly listen to anything commercial, so there goes your presumptuous self again. Secondly, even if you had the money you wouldn't buy something you already had downloaded would you? Regardless of how much you loved the band? That's the impression I get from what you've said and IF that's the case, it's wrong and I think it's disgusting.
I know how underground music works and I know how the mind of musicians work, trust me. If he got a record deal, the last thing you or him would be backing up is having him ripped off by people downloading his hard work for free.
Again, apologies to BF.

Who is more intelligent, man or woman?
Answer is: neither. It’s like asking, who’s more intelligent, black or white people? Asians or South-Americans.
Don’t go waving any “these tests show a difference of 1,8” at me. Because if these tests are made by women, men will score lower. If the tests are made by Africans, the Europeans will score lower.
Tests have a tendency of evaluating as intelligence that which is viewed AS intelligence in a particular culture. Stick your average IQ-test at a Bush(wo)man, and she’ll fail miserably. You try and survive in the bush for a week, and she’ll beat you any day.
I subscribe to Howards Gardners 8 intelligences as a matter of fact. You have visual, logical, linguistic, naturalistic, musical, bodily, social and personal intelligence. And while you may score low in logic – which is the traditional intelligence – you may hit the roof in musical, or visual.
So to use a role-playing term: We probably start our with more or less the same points. It’s a question of where we place them.

great reply line... and i do agree...but i also see where he's coming from...
nowadays, there will always be women who begrudge men, especially in the workplace... when a man beats a woman to a promotion, "oh, its cos hes a man," not because he deserved it... i know thats not always the case but i have seen it happen...
it's never nice being rated 'second best', so to say, and if you can blame someone else instead of accepting that you really WERE second best this time, I'm pretty sure most people'll go for it. men and women alike, course men too can go sour when a woman get's the job, course, obviously, the boss just went all pc instead of hiring the best man(!) for the job. it's not, IMO, a particularly female thing to do so, it's a human thing, and it can be terribly childish and ruin the cooperation and good environment needed on the workplace.
when that's said, I'd still say that it's good for both genders paying attention when it comes to promotion, wages and the like, course women really DO have a reason to be suspicious. the suspicion should be used in a constructive manner, though, not as a means of beating everybody else on the head.
and thank you, lil bitchiness, syren. 🙂
Well the left brain (or might be right, will re-check) is said to be the more mathematical, analytical side. Described often as the male side of the brain. The opposite is said to be the more feminine side, because it's the more intuitive etc.
So obviously both are more intelligent in different areas, or capable of doing so. The conclusion to be drawn however is just that there is dumb and smart in both. Proof? KMC.

true, it is both... but if a man sues and a woman sues, who is most likely to win? i'll bet the woman more often than the man, why? pcness (if thats a word)... trust me, i know there are plenty of hard working women out there, but there are plenty with an axe to grind (also the case with men), thats all i'm saying...
i do agree that if there is a reason to be suspicious then fair enough, but the reason must not be solely due to gender...
put it this way... a man and a woman both have equal qualifications, both are professional in their attire and attitude... you have to choose one for a job, who do you choose? the one you like more?
