Do you agree with this.....

Well this is probally my first and only post here but my school is banning the Confederate flag from our school because they say that it causes problems around our school becuase there was gonna be a black/white fight. I think we should be able to keep the flag at our school. You cant even have it on your car now. What do you guys think?

it is (atleast for as far as I know) considered by quite a few as a symbol from in the old days with the confederate states. which supported slavery so indirect the flag is linked to slavery and might as well be taken away

What sort of problems? If its causing fights to break out, the administration is probably right to ban it for the sake of student safety. But if it's merely upsetting people, I think students should be allowed to display it. Having freedom of speach as long as your speach doesn't offend anyone is the same as not having freedom of speach at all.

Keep the flag it is a reminder of the past. The past always is illustrated in history. Beside nowadays the Confederate flag is known better as the Rebel flag.

Hmm good points.......a huge fight was gonna break out between the rednecks and the blacks but the cops stopped it and then they banned the flag so thats probally the reason

See, I agree with the museums and schools Fire. I don't like the idea of flags sold in the streets. But then again some people just love to make an extra buck.

Here in SoCal if you exit a freeway you might find ppl selling all kinds of flags. Including the Nazi flag! Is all about making those dollars.....sad indeed.

Well, it depends. When I was in school skinheads would always wore those swastika arm bands. They would only take them off when a teacher would approach them. For them is their "Freedom of expression".

in most of europe Nazism is not laughed at and severaly punished most of all in germany I think. I think it's good tho.

there is this political party in belgium that once copied a nazi-add (for those who know a bit about nazi adds the one with the broom) to use for their campaign they got sued and had to make new adds they had to pay some serious fines too

I don't think it's a laughing matter, either. But I don't think you should limit freedom of speach on that issue, or any issue.

And really, what good does it do to forbid it? So a Nazi can't fly his flag. Will that stop him from being a Nazi?
