The confederate flag is a divisive symbol. The only people who seem to like it are rednecks and the KKK. I know there are those who claim Southern Heritage, but everyone of those people I've talked to are rednecks deep down inside. You know the type who have black friends, but don't think white and black should marry or have children together. It still divides people in South Carolina because while it was finally taken off the State House dome, it still flies on State House grounds. Last I checked the NAACP had a tourism boycott of South Carolina until the flag is removed from the State House grounds. People have attempted to burn it up at least twice since it's removal from the dome. Personally I don't think any property supported by tax payer dollars should fly any flags other than the state and American flag. Those are the flags that represent all citizens of that state and the US. The only way I would support the flying of the Confederate Flag on publicly supported grounds were if it were part of a historical retrospective that featured flags from the colonial days to our present American flag.
I haven't read any of the previous post so i am just addressing the issue.
The Confeds were rebels... The US crushed them.... All the symbols that represent them, just like the swastika should be grounded into dust...
Slavery has been around since the beginning of time, Rome was built on it and so was basically every ancient kingdom, every race on earth has been enslaved so there is no complaining, Chinese are still being enslaved, so are so many others, so my agruement has nothing to do with a racial issue. I see no NAACP trying to free chinese or any race from sweatshops anywhere so they shouldn't complain about injustice. I am a Italian, Spanish, Native American, Austrian mut so i got a finger in alot of pies.

I'm not sure I believe this. Anyone who can be influenced just by seeing the flag is too weak-willed for belief.Just to make things clear, I don't like the Confederate flag, and I don't like what it stands for. I would never fly it, and I doubt that I would willingly associate with someone who did. But as I've already said, I don't think that's a good reason to forbid people from flying it.
that's the difference between me and you greg
