Forever and ever ago
since I last spilled my soul
onto the blankness of a page
saddening...

what life truly forms
from a page full of words
may be sad or may be still
something to taunt and thrill

My pages lay blank,
Lonely, waiting,
Longing for a pen's gentle caress
That may never come.
Heartbroken.
Forever anticipating
Its maker's return.

I dreamt of writing again last night.
Your dark form.
Your whispering sound.
It was a dream I knew I should not have had.
I had it anyway.
I reached for your illusory form,
And the smoke dispersed in my hands.
You nudged me for my attention,
And I tried not to look.
But amidst the chaos and the people,
All the happenings and the not’s,
When I longed to simply express and be understood,
I knew you looked for none other than me.
But I am submerged in my own dichotomy.
To imagine and be real,
To exist; to no exist.
I tore myself away from this delusion,
And you shattered like an expensive glass composition.
I awoke thinking of you this morning.
Your fading smile,
And my hope in you.
