I grew up in a small town that was full of Christian churches. When I say full..I mean we have to be the church capital of the world. 🙄 Ok, that is a bit over doing it..but a hell of alot of churches none the less. Religion overload.
The church I grew up going to was so "religious" yet so full of hypocrites it wasn't even funny. Like the girl singing special number on sunday morning in church was the same girl I picked up off the bar floor the night before. Oh, the leaders were out of their minds with some of their thoughts and teachings...I was done with church, God, and "religion" by the time I was an early teen. THere is also MUCH to say here about my home life and "religion"..but it's all the same so I won't bother.
I was turned off. The town was so full of what they believed to be good "religious" practices and "How wonderful we are in the eyes of God for all we are as a church".
I EVENTUALLY (after many years) threw out all I was taught and started from scratch. Just me and God. Worked through the lies and the crap and started anew. I am a Christian once again and will remain as such. I just don't like the word "religious". I prefer personal relationship with God. Or the church as a family. Or believer in God. You get the point. The word bugs me...that's all. 🙂

My mom beleives in God, and prays. My mom feels she needs this, so I do not argue with her about it. I am Buddhist. She doesn't know that though.
She is not religious by any means...she hasn't been to Church in years, she never read the Bible extensively, and I don't thnk she even knows the "Our Father" by heart.
She is still Christian though....so are you. You guys are living proof that Christianity has the potential to be a muchh better religion than it is today 🙂

I too have a hard time picking up my bible. I do though..and I do try to get to church at least twice a month for a booster. Your momma probably just has a little of what I have inside and finds it all hard to sort out. I understand. She's on the right road though. She doesn't need to go to church to build her relationship with her God ... she's praying and that's all that matters. She sounds like a real nice lady. 🙂

Oh, I care what they think of me. I don't want to tick everyone off and put them down. I just decided that I have to be who I am for REAL and see who deals with it and who doesn't. So far everyone seems to not attack me right off the hop for anything "christian" like that I post. Which leads me to believe that I can be ok here as the minority. Scary though.
