And no, Superman has a level of strength that's been shown. The shields need to be shown cpapable of putting up an assault on that level. Now stop asking stupid questions.

I think in fairness to starscream he was responding to another posters comments that magnetos shields haven't taken hits from someone in the level of superman... In the Phoenix scan magneto clearly states he was caught off guard but also states his shields held against her attack. So context could say he was damaged as a result of being unaware also.
.... But yeah millions of punches a minute at 100 ton level i see magneto wearing out. I also can't see magneto catching superman with his attacks or damaging him enough to pull any sort of a majority.
Yes I know magneto can see into the electromagneto spectrum but that doesn't mean he's going to see that superman is metabolising a certain wavelength or solar energy.

He can track objects moving at light speed and move objects at faster than lightspeed. Combine that with AOE and he can adapt.

You really think that if a dying Magento can mess with Proteus that he can't do anything Superman? Proteus is made up of energy outside the electromagnetic spectrum and has reality warping powers. He can do that but can't see Superman metabolising yellow sunlight? 😬
Yellow sunlight is actually part of the electromganetic spectrum. So when Mags looks at Superman's body he's going to see jack?

Exactly, these boards are flooded with scans and there's no context to it. Yes it's impressive.
But there's is context.
After the M'Kraan Crystal event the Phoenix was stated to have self installed psionic circuit breakers to manage her power. Claremont stated that the power level was around Storms with the breakers in X-Men Companion I inteview but I don't know how much value that interview has. After this issue Jean believed that the X-Men 2.0 died so that's when she met Mastermind in Greece and that's when he started removing these breakers using his power of illusions and a device designed by Emma Frost. During the DPS, Scott brought Dark Phoenix around with his love for a moment. Xavier then ambushed her and together with Jeans help they knitted back the psionic circuit breakers which she then shedded on the moon after Scott is taken down by the Imperial Guard.

This is after the X-Men ambush him and knock him around. He does get his shield up in some instances and in others not so much.
And while it's impressive it's not as if he emerges unhurt.
