Your reasons for dissent are precisely the reason I created this thread. To inform and make people reevaluate their perceptions of people of Asian descent. It is also to make them truly aware of how stereotypes limit Asians' options for opportunities and how society's perception of them influence's their own behavior.

While that's the reason why they consider Blacks as worthless because they still see them as subordinates of Whites and not worth their attention. I had a friend from Cambodia tell me that once.
Some Asian families would allow interracial marriage only with a rich White person. No Blacks alllowed!!!

This the issue that I am pertaining to. Back then, Asians were horribly stereotyped. Asian men were considered asexual, effeminate or homosexual. They weren't considered "real" men. Asian women on the other hand were considered to sexual vamps. It was a very common cliche for a "John Wayne" type of person to "seduce" an Asian woman away from her "backwards" society. The Asian men were portrayed as weak and infantile. The real issue is the warped distinction of gender with Asians. People of Caucasian heritage of used their power and wealth to completely distort the image of Asians through media items.
What's sad is that this stereotyping has influenced Asians' behavior. Asian-American women have the highest rate of interracial marriage. With who? White men. In a popular study performed by Yale University, they interview nearly ten thousand Asian women. And they found that most of them found Asian men to be unattractive. They said they wanted a "real" man. Or rather a "John Wayne" man. The stereotyping of Asians is so great and unnnoticed that Asians have infact began to put themselves in these roles unwittingly.

Biologically there is no thing as race. You're correct on that angle. Socially, Politically, and Psychologically, race exists. It's completely naive to think otherwise. Race is a misnomer. However most people do not recognize this. The term "race" is used to describe a group that is set apart from others because of obvious physical differences.
Biologically, race doesn't exist. Outside the realm of science, however, race is alive and well.
Odd, isn't it? This debate has focussed upon stereotyping Asians as martial artists etc, looking at a Chinese/Japanese vibe.
But say 'Asian' in the UK and you are far more likely to think of an Indian- that's certainly how our census forms have it. So it ends up very different indeed.
So if there is a stereotype, it is really just down to common cultural connection, in which case you will likely find every race gets stereotyped.
BTW, Lil, the term 'race' has a wider definition than you are giving it.
every race has a stereotype, as long as there is ignorance there are always going to be stereotypes...it sucks but so does life....i dont think asians are the most stereotyped of all the races....you may feel that personally because if you're asian american than i'm betting you had to deal with racism 1st hand, but i would say history says otherwise about asians being the most sterotyped

I believe that the stereotyping of Asian-Americans is so great that it actually alters their own lives. How they act, what they do for a living, who they marry, their personalities and even their own psychological profiles. Every race does get stereotyped but not to the extent that I believe Asians endure.
I agree. Race is not biological. However societally, psychologically, economically, etc. Race exists.
