😆 His latin can be accomplanied by heavy breathing.
I like the "Pope Palpatine III" pvs.
I don't think we are going to see the Catholic church become liberal anytime soon; you have to remember that Pope John Paul appointed practically ALL of those Cardinals so they will have pretty conservative view points.

😆 i laughed so hard when i read that... the guys here at work looked at me like what the hell is wrong with that cat.
I dont know diddly squat about this guy... ill have to do research on him like other people. But he hardly seems like a good interrelational person like PJP II was.
I remember that when JP I was made pope the conclave was having trouble agreeing on who should be the next pope, so they voted on JP I knowing he wasnt going to be around much longer. that would hopefully give them more time to think about the cardinals decision. Not too long after, i think it was like 6 years maybe... maybe less, he died. Then JP II came in. They might be doing the exact same thing here. I dunno.
Hope he's half the Pope JP II was.

"Liberal Catholic church" is nothing but a giant oxymoron; it'll never happen.
CNN has been interviewing US Catholics here on the street and the consensus is that many people were disappointed and had been hoping for a more moderate pope.
They also interviewed a Nigerian in St. Peters Square and I think he put it best by saying that "the problem isn't with the man the leads the church, but the religion itself".
Many Catholics obviously realise that their religion is out of touch with todays society and that their religion must change or it will continue to lose membership and erode.

Yeah I'm kinda thinking that if the Catholics in the United States want to be more liberal they are just going to have to split off from the catholic church; that's really their only option right now.

thats harsh, Capt.
Hey, the catholic church brings these jokes on themselves. To stand there and say "were gonna get together in a coupleof weeks, mull it over, think about it, figure out which parrish we can send these child molesters to, in order to sweep it under the rug, and then we'll get back to you about what we think about priests molesting alter boys."
Such a "holy" and "moral" organization shouldn't have to consider what they're going to do about grown men molesting children.

ya i agree with you entirely, but dont burn a whole group of priests for something that select bastards within the church have done.
Why not? Its what happens to almost every other group, okay so its wrong to do it... But why make an exception for them unless we start treating all groups fair

Let's be clear: There is no such thing as a liberal Pope. And what's more is that they're talking about all the fuss of a German Pope being elected. How human. The Italians wanted an Italian Pope, the Africans wanted an African, the Americans have a confused look on their face and the Germans are all smiling.
What a petty argument to have, in the face of the "word of god".
Depends on how liberal one has to be to be considered a liberal pope but there are certain cardinals who e.g. support the use of condoms to counter aids and so on... If one of those would become pope I would call that (in perspective to the other candidates) a liberal pope
