It's Offical!

Hey everyone!

My name is Matthew Balthrop. I am one of the 'core four' of g14 productions along with Jeff, David C., and Kelli. I also play Mark Millar in our short film "Ultimate Eye for the Vertigo Guy".

Just wanted to let everyone know that it's offical! g14 was fortunate enough to have won this years Wizard Direct to Video competition. So, hopefully we will see all of you out there! We would love to meet everyone!

Please feel free to visit our website (currently being re-vamped, pardon our dust) and check out two of the trailers to our new feature film Noir. As for when everyone can see Ulitmate Eye, well, I'm sure we'll figure something out in the near future!

By the way, checked out the other shorts and just wanted to tell everyone nice job! I love fan films and these were really fun to watch. I especially got a kick out of the trailer for SuperBabe. Funny stuff Todd!

Nice to meet everyone and I hope to hear from you soon!

Matthew

Congrats guys! I'm glad I didn't give out bum info. Still don't have a list of runner ups🙁 If anyone comes across them please post. Can't wait for the winning video to be posted online - please let us know when it is.

Sorry if I ruined the surprise for G14 - I know I would have liked to know. BTW - forgot to welcome you to the board Matthew - so welcome. Dying to see "Ultimate Eye."

Congrats, Matthew!

Alex.

Congratulations. Can't wait to see it. "Ultimate eye for the vertigo guy". that sounds pretty darn tootin.... Thanks for the compliment.... Keep your fingers crossed guys for those 4 runner up spots.... Good luck

-Todd

I think there are 5 runner ups - even better odds.

Well....at least this will ease up the ulcer created from the wait! lol.

It's almost worst now because I never expected to win, I was just hoping to sneak in at the #6 spot🙂

Matthew-- how were you notified? FedEx, mail, email, phone?

Thanks.

Alex.

hey...there's always next year! lol. Come back better (can't say bigger, cuz of the 4 minute limitation). Just got to think of a new nifty project

Uh...We were actually notified by diestler. After that, I actually had to call Wizard Entertainment to get confirmation. The person I talked to said they were going to call us on Monday. Ah well!

Thanks for the congrats, we're very excited. Anyone know for sure whether or not they're going to be in Chicago?

Matthew

Congratulations on the win!

I'm going to be in the area. We have a wedding to hit in Michigan that weekend. If All's Fair was to get screened, I would make every effort to attend, maybe by flying into Chicago and driving from there to the wedding. We haven't figured it out yet. Might not have to, but it's a problem that I would welcome. Probably won't be able to justify the added expense right now (much less missing part of the wedding festivities) if I'm not getting screened.

Too expensive, unless I get screened - if so, I would definitely go. As for the runner up list, my contact at Wizard flaked and didn't send me the list🙁 I hope to get ahold of one on Monday. With it being Friday 5:00 EST - there is little chance to get ahold of anyone right now🙁

mavic (Gary) - awhile back you asked if I submitted the film elsewhere and I said I did - to iFilm, but hadn't heard anything. After various emails to iFilm, I finally got a response. They are willing to host it and encode it for free - which is pretty sweet. They said their audio mix is inaudible at times though (not too big of a surprise) - so I will try to work on the audio this weekend and see if I can't improve it - at least a little bit. So hopefully I will be on iFilm soon. Just wanted to let you know there is hope to get hosted for free from them.

sweet! That would be cool! I just got a reference number from them to send a film. I'm sending in on minidv so that they can do their own encoding and such. we'll just see how long it takes them to post it. we did have fxhome.com post our movie and in 3 days it has grabbed 247 downloads and is ranked #6 out of 597 current films that have posted for current week downloads. pretty groovy. good luck with our submission. it'd be cool sometime if we were ever able to do a joint project. you're in CO right?

Very groovy - great job promoting your film. I would definitely be done for working on a project together in the future - yes, Denver.

That should have said down, not done🙂

Okay - the list has finally arrived!

WINNER
"Ultimate Eye for the Vertigo Guy" by Jeff Lofgren and G14 Productions

RUNNERS-UP
"Reality Round-up: Superhero Edition" by Mark Diestler
"Napoleon Skywalker" by Chris Hoffman
"Powerkid" by Brockton McKinney
"Solo: The Movie" by Joel Poehlmann
"The Revenger" by Dan Raleigh

I don't believe any of these films are online, but if any of you are reading this post and have your film online, please post the link.

I'm pretty excited about making the list, but I wish there would have been others from this board that made it🙁 If anyone makes it out to Chicago I would really enjoy meeting everyone.

Additional bad news is I thought they screened all six movies in their entirety at the Chicago Con, but I hear they put together a montage and only show parts of the runner-ups🙁 Oh well, at least there should be some prizes on the way.

Now that the winners are announced this board might start dying off a bit - but I just wanted to say that I really did enjoy everyone's films and hope to stay in touch. If any of you have any new projects that you post, please email me so I can watch them - long live Fan Films!

Mark

Congratulations, Mark! Way to go! You going to come out to Chicago?

Jeff

😠 (Dave insisted I add at least one smiley face. He's the "silent" g14 partner)
