well, since its law and it doesnt involve slavery, killing, rape, etc. then its progressive and thus right that he spend 10 years in jail for making love to his wife.

i wont spank my kids often, and I have no problem with them having sex around 16, but I read about a pregnant 12 year old girl. If she was mine, I would wait for the baby to be born and then I would beat the crap out of my daughter. Sometimes spanking kids is the only way to get the point past them. I was spanked as a child, and I respect my parents and have a good connection with them. As of now, the only person I have met who has preached to me about not hitting their child has a runaway, a sexist and an overall jerk as kids.

And in that thread I explained it to you. Also forgot to mention, if she was married at 17, she would have needed her parents consent in the first place. Otherwise, the state would be liable for the guy marrying an underage girl and consummating his marriage with an underage girl.
So either the story is false, it was told incorrectly/not fully or Oklama is one unique state where the state can issue a marriage license to a minor and then charge the adult who just legally (by state law) married that minor with statutory rape.

Then you should have explained it like that in the first place to avoid confusion. By saying "I agree, in fact one of my brothers friends got sent to prison for sleeping with his underage wife", it implies that they were legally married when she was still a minor.
Still, 10 years is extreme for statutory rape, I now a guy personally who was charged in a similar scenario and he only received a fine, community service time and had to go to a few sessions of counseling. The judge and the law took into account that he was 19 and she was 17.
What you describe seems to be an isolated circumstance, did the judge know the parents? Also, he should rehire an attorney and his now adult wife could testify that she was not raped. It'd be hard to do, but worth a shot. Besides, isn't the age of consent 16 in OK?

I started this thread because I wanted everyone's opinion on young teenagers/teenagers having sex. For instance im part of a girls advice community on the net and there have been SO MANY 12 and 13 year olds saying they've had sex and/or are pregnant. It really annoys me. I mean, Im 15, turning 16 next month and I havent had sex before. Im not saying I wont, but I wouldnt have when I was supposed to be running around with my lil girlfriends, playing dress up, and playin with fking dolls! I read about this 13 year old girl that is going out with a 21 year old and she wants to have sex with him. THAT IS WRONG! Sex at that age is just wrong.
