All through the Herbology period Sirius,Remus & Peter casted questioning looks towards James. Lily was seated next to a Hufflepuf Elice.Soon the bell rang for lunch. As soon as they were outside anyone's hearing range Sirius asked,"What happened James? What did she say?"
"She knows it was me who played that trick on Snape. She requested me not to repeat this.So from now on-No to pranks atleast for a few days."
"Is this means that we'll be losing our best source of entertainment?"
"I am afraid yes for me but no for you." said James with a mischievious look on his face.
"Oh!" Sirius nodded in understanding with a huge grin on his face.
After lunch they had Care of magical creatures and Transfiguration.
James went to talk to Lily in the common room.
"Lily I am sorry for what I did.Please forgive me.By the way will you my friend?"James asked with his hand extended.
"Mine too?"asked Sirius.
"And ours too?" asked Remus & Peter.
Lily stared at the 4 for a moment,then smiled & shook James hand.
"Sure, I never had such good friends that too at the same time."
With that they went together for dinner.Across Lily, James & Sirius sat Remus and Peter.Suddenly James noticed Snape was watching him and Lily.
"Lily, Why did you become so angry on me by playing a trick on Snape?"
"Well when I talked to him or rather tried to talk he either didn't reply or replied in irritated voice.In your terms like a typical slytherin. But after sometime he apologised for his behaviour. He told me how his own housemates didn't talk to him & how he had no friends.It was just then when u added something in his potion.I saw that even the slytherins were laughing at this.So I was angry.I am sorry."
"Oh!Don't say sorry. It was not your fault, it was mine."
"But why u did this. I mean why to him & not to any other? there must be a reason."
"It was because-well-I was-forget it."James thought how canhe tell her he was jealous of him because he was sitting next to her.
HE was great ful that Sirius started talking to Lily before she could ask any more questions.
The first years continued their studies. They had some interesting lessons like Defence against the dark arts, Transfiguration, Charms, Herbology, etc. and some boring ones too like History of magic and even Potions.
Lily became even better friends with the four boys namely James, Sirius, Remus & Peter. She & Renee spent most of their free time with the Maraudars as the four boys called themselves.
"God Lily! How are you able to write a full three foot essay on goblin-rebellions," exclaimed Sirius.
"It is very easy if you pay attension in class which I know neither you or any of your friends including Renee consider worth your attension,"
replied Lily in a superior tone.
"It is not only us who don't have time for History of magic. If you care to spare your little time and see around, you will find that most of the class is sleeping and the rest is busy in themselves either playing with things or gossiping. Even poor Snivellus is the same."
"I wish I knew how to apparate. Then i would just apparate to Hogsmeade in the History period & enjoy myself for a change," said Remus.
"Sorry Remus! But it is not possible even if you know how to apparate
as you can't apparate or disapparate near Hogwarts or Hogwarts' grounds. It is written in Hogwarts-A Historty. Honestly am I the only on who has read this book," Lily asked surprised by their blank expression.
"Yeah! I think so," answered James.
"By the way did any of you know there is a ghost of a girl called Moaning Myrtle in the Girls bathroom which is out of order. I heard a few fifth year girls talking about it," said Renee.
"Nope" they all replied.

The Christmas holidays followed and the Maraudars and the girls went to celebrate it with their families. They returned after New year and the lessons started from Tuesday.
Saturday was unfortunately for Remus a full moon day . The boys woke up, bathed and dressed and went down to the common room where the girls were waiting for them as usual.
"Remus you are looking ill,"said Lily.
"Yeah mate! Are you alright?"asked James.
"Yes I am fine," Remus lied not looking in their eyes.
They went to the Great hall for their breakfast. On their way Snape suddenly used the trip curse and seeing this James and Sirius began to cast various curses on Snape. But unfortunately
"Mr.Potter, Mr. Black what are you doing. Detention to each, today at 5:30 p.m. sharp," said Professor McGonagal.
"Professor first Severus attacked James," complained Sirius.
"Yes, I know Mr. Black. He will serve his detention with Mr.Filch at 5:30 sharp."
And with that she walked away.
Lily for once was not angry with James but with Snape.
"What did you think you were doing Severus?"Lily asked.
"None of your business, Mudblood,"replied Snape coldly and went to join the Slytherin table.When James and Sirius returned from their detentions they found the girls and Peter doing their homework near the fire.
"Where is Remus?" asked James.
"Gone to visit his sick aunt," replied Lily.
"What again?" asked Sirius.
The next morning when Remus arrived James, Sirius and Peter cornered him.
"You have got to tell us what's the matter with you." asked James.
"We'll not tell anyone if u will like," said Peter.
"Yeah trust us," said Sirius.
"I trust u all but I feel u will leave me and not agree to be my friends once u know," said Remus.
"We promise to be your friends at any rate."
"OK then. Friends I am a werewolf. I was bitten when Iwas a child. I don't stop u. You can leave me if u don't want me to be your friend anymore,"said Remus heavily.
"Don't be stupid Remus. We'll always be your friends as promised," said James.

Few weeks have passed after the three boys had discovered Lupin's 'little hairy problem' as James called it.They had decided to help Remus in any way. They were busy thinking a way to help Remus. But besides this they also had to deal with their studies, mischieves and of course girls. In such a small time only Sirius & James had become the most popular boys of the school. In girls because of their charm and among teachers because of their mischieves & pranks.
"James, what are u thinking mate?" one night Sirius asked James seeing that he was quiet from a long time and was thinking deeply.
"I was thinking to show Lily my invisiblity cloak. What do u think guys?"
"No James what if she tells someone?" Peter protested as he was clearly afraid.
"Grow up Peter, she will not tell anyone," said Sirius "I think u should tell her and also show it to her. They are very rare."
"Yeah! I will show it tomorrow."
The next day at breakfast an owl landed in front of Lily. She untied the letter from its leg. The letter read
Dear Lily
I want to show something to you but with a promise u will tell no one not even Renee, Elice or your best friend Udita. Meet me in common room tonight at 11:30.

James

Lily thought not to go but then curiosity caught her better. She as told waited in the common room till 11:30 with an assurance to her friends that after she had finished her homework she will get some sleep too and not spend the whole night studying. At 11:30, James arrived with his Invisibility cloak.
" Hey Lily! "
"Hello James. What do you wanted to show me?"
" Would you like to roam around the castle with me for sometime?"
"What?" Lily asked a little scared.
"I mean, I wanted to post this letter. I wanted to go to the owlery."
"I would certainly have liked the idea were it not for the fact that we are not allowed to be out of Gryffindor tower such late and if we are seen, detentions will be given to us." Lily replied with a 'try to be sensible James' look.
"But what if no one can see us?"James asked grinning like mad.
"Well then it would be, er, ok, I guess."Lily said with uncertainty.
"Could you please close your eyes for a moment Lily."
Lily did as she was told.
"Now you can open them"
"What is all this...." but James was nowhere to be seen.
"James where are you?"
"In front of you"came James' voice.
With that he removed the cloak and Lily stared at him with her mouth wide open.
"You have an invisiblity cloak." Lily said clearly shocked.
"Yes. I wanted to show it to you but please don't tell anyone else."
Suddenly they heard someone coming towards themselves.
"Fast Lily." and he threw the cloak on her and moved closer to her and put his hand on her shoulder to cover them completely. He signalled her not to make noice.
Soon two fifth years arrived and settled in the chairs which were facing James and Lily and started kissing each other deeply.
Then they heard a pair of feet coming in the room. The fifth years broke apart. Sirius entered the room and the Fifth years exited.
James threw the cloak.
"Don't worry he knows about the cloak." James said to a slight red Lily.
"Oh! James, Lily What were you doing here."Sirius said smiling wickedly. Lily turned deep red and left the room.
"Sirius! I had to throw it over us to prevent anyone seeing the cloak. I was just telling her about the cloak." And with that they both exited.
Thanks to all. In my theory Lily had started liking James before their 7th year but she was against the pranks James and Sirius used to play on Snape. It is not clearly told in the 5th book that Lily had started liking James in their 7th year. The only thing Harry saw Lily saying was that she hated James. She must have said that because she was angry on James.
