I really liked Amy in The Eleventh Hour, and then she managed to annoy me more and more and more as the series went by (though she was not at all bad in her finale). I am still worried that the new companion will be very similar in personality.

Rose was obnoxious.

Donna's farewell was the worst.

Oh, Amy was a better companion than Rose by far. Legit character progression...it was fun to see. I was talking solely about the emotion of the sendoff.

I liked Amy up until the flesh-clone episode. She got progressively worse after that. Her only saving grace, for me, was the fact that she cared so deeply about Rory and it made her a little more relatable, imo.

Rose was decent, but immature I thought. I was glad she got a bit of closure at the end of her run, though.

I heard someone say that Matt Smith is stepping down soon too. Weird to think he's made almost as many episodes as Tennant, it doesn't feel that long, guess they had better seasonal arcs with Tennant.

Sadly he may go at the end of the season...

“... on the Fields of Trenzalore, at the fall of the Eleventh, when no creature can speak falsely or fail to answer, a question will be asked — a question that must never be answered."

Well, Moffat is infamous for doublespeak on lines like that, and I don't think the Fields are turning up yet anyway.

There have been rumours about Matt for ages- I'd be healthily sceptical about them. He's doing the Specials, which means he is here for another year at least.

I'd prefer to see a slightly older Doctor next.

So the new gf was curious about Doctor Who. I started her with Eccleston, and she's enjoying it. We're about 6 episodes in. I'm pleased. I now have an excuse to re-watch them chronologically from the start.

it's more aimed at the new younger audience.

How about Hugh Laurie?

He's certainly mercurial enough. I wouldn't be against that in theory. Good call. I'd have suggested Bill Nighy, but he was in that episode with Van Gogh.

Well thats the kind of stuff I think about a lot.

Wouldn't mind younger than Laurie, though. Possibly some new no-name that Moffat finds. I trust his judgement.

Just ****ing write Sherlock already.

I've been meaning to mention this for ages. It's been in the rumour mill for months, but finally got confirmed last week.

They are finally going to give the cybermen a proper episode... with a proper writer, in the form of Neil Gaiman, which I am highly excited for.

Wow that's pretty big news.

The Cybermen have always been my preferred villain and Gaiman is a good writer so I'll be looking forward to this!!!

Unfilmed version of Brian's reaction hearing about the Ponds

I really wished they filmed that.

Same. It would have been awesome.

Bleeding Cool heard a rumour that David Tennant is coming back for the 50th anniversary. No word on more, though.

Yeah Tennant and Ecclestone are both rumoured to be returning for short stories about their time as The Doctor, with actors/lookalikes playing the Doctor's from years gone by.
