Oh, yeah, the Christmas episode.

Actually, as Christmas stories go, it wasn't bad. We have a new mystery, and Moffat has gone all fannish again by giving an origin story for a 1960s antagonist!

Just watched it. Pretty solid, and nice to finally have some new Doctor Who to watch.

Liked the Christmas special and the new companion Clara. Looking forward to the new episodes.

Isn't the Doctor married to River now?

Yep

lol Okay so I'm not crazy. Clara is cool but I am wondering how its going to play out with how she is too him, or if River will just be glanced over.

Well technically they aren't supposed to meet again, so they could still get away with it.

He's not really married to River! Nor is he committed to her in any way. It never works like that.

And it;'s very likely they'll meet again.

You know what I meant. sneer

But yeah, if they had any sense they'd buck the trend and let them meet again.

Werll, there's no great reason why they wouldn't. For a start, we've not seen River meet the Doc for the first time yet. There's a large amount of unspoken story there that writers can use any time they like.

Not that I care- I really went off River more and more as time went by.

Now I remember; they'd had their first kiss from his pov, so it was her last. I got my times mixed up.

Just popping in to say I'm an awesome boyfriend.

Exhibit A:
GF: Hey Digi, I think I want to get into this show...it's called Doctor Who. Have you heard of it?
Digi: *laughs* You're dating the right guy.

Fast forward, and we're in the middle of Season 3, and I stop her just after Blink. She doesn't know Torchwood exists, but had mentioned missing Captain Jack. So I pop in the DVD and roll past the opening titles while she's in the bathroom, and tell her I started the next episode. Then I slowly let it dawn on her that she's watching a whole different show. Priceless reaction.

So right now we're nearing the end of Season 1 of Torchwood. At the end of it, Jack hears the TARDIS and runs off. So then I'm going to pop back in DW Season 3 and boom, we're right on the episode that begins with Jack running toward the TARDIS, screaming for the Doctor.

There's no way anyone could have such a seamless experience without outside help...I certainly didn't (I saw Season 4 before Season 1, for example). And it's awesome getting to watch them in order again, AND usher her through it the correct way.

Digi, did you watch Torchwood?

Yeah, I'm all caught up. Children of Earth, Miracle Day, the whole deal. It's a really nice sidebar to DW. I hope it makes a return, even if it's the "Americanized" road that Miracle Day took it down.

I just started season 2, and I'm finishing season 4 of Dr. Who.

How should I watch them together?

For me they were way too different and not interconnected enough to be worth watching together.

Well, I know when Jack disappears with the Doctor at the end of TW S1, he is in S3 of Dr. Who.

When the Daleks are attacking Earth at the end of S4 DW does TW S2 connect with it? I know Jack is part of the eps, but does TW make their own take on it?

IIRC Jack goes missing for a bit, but no more is said that I can recall.

There wasn't a Dalek episode or anything like that, unless I'm forgetting.

Thanks bromigo.
